Hey folks - I have a Sienna Platinum which comes with JBL speakers, it sounds okay... but wanted something better. Do you have any suggestions regarding options to upgrade from JBL to better systems? For those that upgraded their speakers - what did you go with?

Thanks!

It's been a while since I've been active in this hobby but definitely don't buy Best Buy quality speakers and expect an improvement. Anything good is going be at least $200 for a pair. I hear Focals are nice. They are made in France. I learned the hard way by buying $100 Kickers and the sound is pretty horrible imo. Kenwood Excelons are nice.

I also installed one of the Chinese eBay android radios in a 2008 Tundra and I believe it made the stock speakers sound so much better. I know it sounds crazy. They actually have one for the Gen 4 Sienna. It's kind of a major thing. Not sure if I would do that though. Everything is integrated.

I don't have a suggestion for speakers per say. Though I would add that hear them out a little longer. I recently learned here that speakers have break-in periods too. The other thing to try is to disable surround mode. I am no audiophile, but I do enjoy ours.

Btw, there is a detailed thread about speakers and amp updates. Look up @cowdog360 's threads.

Yes I have the non-JBL sound system and I'm actually impressed. It's going to cost you some $$ if you want to improve it. Diminishing returns.

I slathered the two front doors with sound deadening material over the weekend. HUGE improvement in quietness and it made the bass from the two front door woofers much better. The rear hatch subwoofer is a joke. I disconnected it to test while I was adding sound deadening to the hatch and the bass from the two front doors was more than what came from the actual sub in the hatch.

Highly recommend doing the two front doors. I haven’t had time to do the two sliding doors. They’re next.

Can you share the link to the material you used? I'll try the two front doors as well.

They’re pretty much all the same. The key is to make sure you press it all in. Use anything you have with a rounded end. I think I used about 1/3 of it in just the two front doors.

Were you going to add any insulation under the hood?

I was toying with that idea, until I actually opened the hood. There is already a piece of insulation on the underside. I may take it off and put some underneath.

I have a 25th edition and the JBL Sub does absolutely nothing, what a joke
Me too. I actually have it disconnected for the time being. It’s a complete joke. Until I can figure out where I’ll put a better one in.

Hello
Have 22 Limited..jbl etc
My old 06 limited sounded better..

Im a bass rock roll freak and desire that huge db and low freq..

Sometimes it actually think the subwoofer and/or amp is not even connected...

Anyway I'm looking to keep it looking stock but adding amp , replacement speakers...?

I overpaid heavily on this vehicle and I'm really sad that I got to drop a few more bucks on..

The center speaker in the dash is so stupid. That should be a sub. Also the rear JBL sub grill is WAY bigger than the actual speaker. It could be swapped for an oval sub thats much bigger. Of course you'd need an amp and a way to control both of them.

Honestly the system isn't THAT bad, its just the sub needs it's own volume adjustment. It's down way too low. I run my EQ with the bass down two notches from the top and the treble down 3.Mid is center or boosted. Not perfect by any means but more inline with a properly tuned system.
