Hi All,

I was able to find a dealer that won't do markups. I tried a half dozen other dealers in Connecticut and everyone wanted $5k-$6k in markups. I will not be purchasing any vehicles from those dealers in the future...these greedy dealers are crazy. They are like those greedy people that were selling toilet paper and sanitizer for ridiculous prices during the pandemic.

Anywho, I put down a $500 deposit for a 2024 Sienna Platinum AWD with Entertainment System in Blueprint. The deal is at MSRP (whatever MSRP will end up being for the 2024 model), NO MARKUP. I don't need a new car until late fall so the dealer said no point in trying for a 2023 right now and lets get me into a 2024, since the timeline works better. Deposit is fully refundable UP TO when the actual allocation is confirmed and allocated to me.

If you're in the Connecticut area and looking for a good ethical dealer that will get you a car at MSRP, reach out to Manchester Lynch Toyota in CT and ask for Clayton Hickey.

Looking forward to getting the car and joining the club! Lots of good information on this forum. I've been wanting to get a minivan for a while now!

That's a bit optimistic... probably looking at a 2026 model with the waitlists we have in the DC area 😁 Hope they make it happen, we caved and took an available Blueprint XLE 8 seater. I was hesitant to go with the 8 seater version but now I really like the extra center console when not using the 8th seat.

hahaha god I hope not. Hopefully I get something allocated sooner than later. I've tried twice in the past to get the Sienna and it never worked out. If it doesn't work out this time, then I think fate is trying to tell me something!

There should be more availability of hybrid vehicles later this year as manufactures work through supply issues plus if Carnival gets hybrid trim this year or next then possibly less demand [just slightly less :)] for Sienna and hopefully more allocations.

Odyssey hybrid is probably 1-2 years after Carnival hybrid.

Good luck!

Btw, if it's not a large volume dealer, you may have to be flexible with colors.

Also, inquire ahead of time for port-installed options like side moldings, fast charge cable, bumper applique etc. They could add up to a couple of thousand bucks!

Here's an example of what I am talking about. See window sticker for the following.

Those people are crazy! So shady!!! Thanks for the heads up! We haven't written an official P&S yet since the 2024 doesn't exist yet, but once it does, I'll make sure its spelled out to a T.

I've also put down a couple of deposits with MSRP dealers last year. But I'm genuinely wondering if there are customers offering an extra K or two to nab one and getting to the top of the line. Would a dealer really turn down extra money? I'd love to know if MSRP dealers get just as many allocated to them vs. the greedy dealers. Do all customers have an equal shot no matter how much they are willing to pay? The logical me thinks not.

Probably not, I would imagine that if they had 1 incoming and someone was willing to give them above, they would probably give that person the allocation first. Too bad there's no way of seeing an official wait list or something like that.

We'll just have to hope...

Ray Shafsa at YAA, explains there really is no car shortage now..no chip shortage, no car shortage. The rise in interest rates means that cars cost way more now than they did just last fall, assuming, of course you borrow the money and dont pay cash. He says right now the shortage is a "buyer" shortage. I also read where car companies are not in a hurry to increase inventories..."Holding back" on some models keeps the supply low and demand high. Consider the Ford Maverick. I ordered one 18 months ago at MSRP. Ford could ramp up Maverick production..they are making PLENTY of F150's, and other cars. But the F150's are $50,000 and up, while the Mavericks are half of that. So, which do they produce? You guessed it..F150's. The Maverick is a gimmick to get you into the Ford dealer, where they switch you to something else. Ditto for the F150 lightning. (Electric). There was an F150 lighting..on display..at the Ford dealer, but the dealer explained it was not for sale, even tho it had just came in and no one had bought it. They put it on display so dealers can "take orders" on the F150 lightning, when they already had more orders than they could fill. Shortly after that, Ford announced a price increase of the F150 lightning of about $16,000 from $40k to $56k. Ford increases F-150 Lightning price, now starts at $56,000.
