I recently pulled the door panel off of the rear door on my 2004 Sienna. I only broke 1 clip. I usually end up breaking more. The dealer want to charge me $2.50 to buy a new clip. I'm going to buy it because I only need 1, but it would be nice to have some on hand if I never have to tear apart my door again.

Does anyone know of a good source online to buy bulk clips?

I did a couple of quick searches and came across http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/ Has anyone had experience with them before? Is there some place better?

When I started my sound deadening project I knew I'd break a bunch of those little interior trim fasteners. So I stopped by my local Toyota dealer. They stock them in bags of ten and they sell for a buck apiece. I bought two bags (20) and have gone through about 15 of them so far. I'm getting better at rescuing the ones that get left behind in the sheet metal when I remove a panel. If you can get under them with a slightly curved prying instrument, you can carefully work them out of the hole intact. I tried various kinds of pliers first and that had a very low success rate. My favorite instrument is a large screwdriver with a slightly bend blade and a notch filed into the edge.

There are two sizes that I've run into so far. Short and Long. The short ones are for floor trim pieces. The long ones come in two colors for no reason that I could determine.

When they break they always break in different ways. Sometimes they shatter into multiple pieces, sometimes they are just chewed up. The second one from the left was damaged enough that I didn't use it, but not bad enough that I threw it away.

Before I went to the dealer and bought 20 fasteners for $20, I tried four different auto parts stores. They all had a display rack with little bags of interior fasteners, but none were quite right. Most were for American vehicles and just a couple for Hondas and Toyotas. Apparently each auto manufacturer has their own proprietary fasteners. I think the fit has to be really close for them to work.

I just purchased a box of 25 panel clips from ClipsAndFasteners.com. I purchased # A18876 for $11.58 + $3.95 (first class shipping). They are the perfect replacement for the numerous panel clips I broke.

I didn't quite need 25 clips but there still cheaper then $2 a pop from the dealer!

Also, the previously mentioned Nylon Trim & Molding Tool set available from Harbor Freight for $13 is a handy set of tools to have on hand when popping panels. Because they're made from Nylon and not metal, they are less likely to scratch the trim panels which scratch VERY easily.
