Hello, had anyone else installed the MIT puddle lights? I just installed them and they are coming on 10 minutes or so after.

I've contacted the seller, their response was that they are aware of my concern and the fix is to buy led t10 bulbs to replace it.

So I'm needing to spend more money to fix a problem with their product. This doesn't sound right. If anyone has a solution for this, please let me know.

I've tested the voltage when the lights are on full, it's around 12v and 30mAh. When they are on standby it's 3.5v and 8.4mAh (something like that I didn't take a photo) That's still enough to do things to the battery.

If it's left on, in sure the battery will be drained in a couple days.

These are not cheap and since MIT is aware of the issue, I would ask them for a replacement set, with T10 Led's, shipped to you and you can then send these ones back. It sucks that you will have to open the mirrors again.

Does this set include low resistance Led's causing them to come back on and Is there a specific set of T10's that MIT is recommending !!!

In theory, you can simply pull off the bottom plate, drill a hole and stick a decent Led reflector in that area.

No they want me to change my interior halogens to led to solve this.

I'm not sure why the MIT puddle lights are drawing a current when there is none going to the doom lights. If I disconnect the LED then I never see any voltage or amp draw.

The dimmer of the two is when 10 minutes or so have passed and it comes on very dim. The left image is when it's activated via remote or door with the dome lights.

I'll try some other things but it shouldn't be this complicated.

Ok did another test, I used a different led strip and it works correctly. Something is wrong with the MIT puddle lights. I hope they respond , I might want a refund if possible.

The right image is my own led strip. It only comes on when the doom lights is activated, note both LED are on. The left image is MIT puddle lights coming in by itself after about 18 minutes after the LEDs are off. I watched the clock. It's pretty consistent when it comes back on by itself as though there's a timer switch inside the MIT puddle lights.

Well. I did what the seller said by getting all t10 led interior lights and it did not resolve my issue. They did issue a refund though.

I'm looking at alternative lights for led puddle lights. At least I know what wires hook up to make it work.

I tried another set of puddle lights. No go. Same problem. The lights come back on after 20 minutes. The only lights that do not come back on is the led strip. Perhaps because it has resisters inline.

So no puddle lights for me.

If you really want them, you can upgrade your mirrors to include turn signal lights. The current gen of those lights from MIT come with puddle lights, or check Ali Express for puddle lights with resistors.
