Hi Guys:
I feel like I am screwed.
Ordered a radiator for my 05 sienna and read bunch post before ordering.
Also called two different dealers, both of them told me mine have a radiator with towing package.
So ordered Denso 2219386 from rockauto..

Today while I am trying to take the old radiator off, it seems that my 05 is using a 06 design, with only two big bolt on the top and there are two 12mm bolts in the bottom(PITA to get them off) that hold the radiator to the lower bracket.
Looked at this youtube video and mine is exactly the same as his, looks like I need to order Denso 2210520.

So basically it seems that I have a 06 radiator and brackets ect, while I bought a wrong one..

I am thinking of two possible solutions:
1, buy another radiator, but a little bit scared of buying another incorrect one
2, find those two small brackets (on 04-05 sienna) that hold the radiator and ac condenser together at the top from junkyard or someone parting out, then reuse the 05 radiator, not sure if that will work?

I will greatly appreciate any input and help..

seems like for 06 and up, they use this type of lower and upper brackets with 4 12mm bolt, however only 06 is using a radiator similar to 04-05; from 07, the radiator is of another design.

I read something similar... Between '04 and '06, they were transitioning to a different bracket design. That's one of the reasons that some people have the all-aluminum Spectra radiator just drop right in and some people find it impossible to install. The best option is to go browse your local junkyards' selection of '04-'06 Siennas, looking for the correct bracketry OR just return the radiator and get the other one. .

One thing I always do is go to a dealers website for parts and input the VIN of the van. I then search for the particular part that I want and note the part number applicable for the the VIN. So when I go aftermarket the cross reference , hopefully , should show a match. This should prevent you from purchasing a part that does not fit. Alternatively you can visit toyodiy.com and go to parts reference , put your VIN in and continue from there.

I thought ALL Siennas were made in the same factory (in Princeton, Indiana) with a 5TDZA starting VIN? There was definitely a radiator bracket change. Officially, I saw it listed as a change as of 09/05, but I've read things with people in '05 AND '06 who have the old brackets and others in '05 AND '06 who have the new brackets. FWIW, I think the radiator is actually the same on '04-'06. There is a "w/towing package" option and "w/o towing package" option, per the Denso descriptions. I see a lot of references which suggest that ALL '04-'07 Siennas had the towing package, which, near as I can tell, just meant that there was a trans. cooler integral to the radiator. As such, I suspect the Denso description is inaccurate. It should really be "early bracket" and "late bracket" but that only makes sense if you know which bracket you actually have. You don't typically find that out until you start doing the job, though. As an additional aside, it looks like RockAuto says there's a different radiator from 05/07. So, if you go looking for the different bracketry, it would be any Sienna from 09/05 to 05/07. OR just order the correct radiator and send the one you got back.

Clarification... The radiators are NOT the same. I meant they have the same dimensions! Although, there are some which have a 7/8" core vs. a 5/8" core in the aftermarket. And, when I just went to check, the two Denso models listed have TOTALLY different dimensions listed.

DENSO 2210520 Specifications
Core Height 18.8120 in.
Core Thickness 0.8750 in.
Core Width 26.5620 in.
Inlet Diameter 0.9370 in.
Outlet Diameter 1.5620 in.
Transmission Oil Cooler Included Yes

DENSO 2219386 Specifications
Core Height 26.3800 in.
Core Thickness 0.8700 in.
Core Width 20.1300 in.
Inlet Diameter 1.5000 in.
Outlet Diameter 1.3400 in.
Transmission Oil Cooler Included Yes

Is it really possible that one is actually 8" taller and 6" narrower than the other??? That doesn't seem like just a bracketry change.

I think they just flipped the height and width

FWIW, there are different fans for towing package. The non-towing which we have has a 5-blade driver side fan. The towing package driver side fan has has 6 or more blades. From that and other missing towing items in our van, I don’t think all US ‘04s have the towing package. Maybe all Canadian vans?

The upper bracket is easy. The lower bracket is a project. Its spot welded to the frame and the upper fender supports. 18 spot welds total. Get a spot weld drill bit and its not too bad once your remove the front end (including front fenders). Its also bolted to engine mount brackets. Not too bad with a cheater pipe, but you'll need a 15mm. You'll need a welder to put the new (used) lower bracket back onto your van.

I'm pretty sure it would be easier just to get the correct radiator.

hhh, thanks a lot for the info, I actually just found it is spot welded, I took the lower two bolts off with some pain, and break one of them into halves(rusted pretty badly), the question now is how to put them back, of I just not putting those lower two, lol

Now the plan is getting the correct radiator, options are:
1, toyota oem, dealer quoted me 1000 cad + tax, basically 1130 cad
2, find a local parts store and get a lower end brand, asked a couple of places, most of them around 250 CAD = 170 USD, and I believe no guarantee about the quality, lol, the brand name is called spectra premium, or even some local brand never heard of, a little bit reluctant to get this.
3, drive to the border (2hrs one way) and order an DENSO 2210520, for 270 usd from amazon.
