I just got the car last week with 97k on the odo.
I've already check the wheel alignment, replaced all 4 tires, engine oil change (high mileage oil), coolant flush and replacement, replaced air filter.
I'm planning on doing the transmission oil change and timing belt replacement asap. (as well as water pump w/ gasket, tensioner bearing, and idler bearing)
Anything else i should replace/change while it's in the shop?
I need the car to last a long time so i'm trying to do as much preventive maintenance as possible.

thoughts?

Thanks

PS: the brake pedal feels a bit mushy, is that normal on these van?
I stops the car fine but it's got a much longer action than on my other cars (standard), this is my 1st automatic tranny so wonder if it should feel any different from a standard brake, I don't see why it should but you never know...
Should I replace the brake fluid?

You're on the right track.

Most folks use synthetic oil in their Siennas, changing around 5000 miles, to avoid sludge. Tranny fluid is a good idea, but make sure you use the correct fluid spec (former Dexron/Mercon 3), and drain from both the transmission pan and differential (same sump).

How old are the spark plugs? PCV valve? Windshield wipers (be safe)? Of course, get new drive belts for the generator and power steering, when the timing belt is done.

You might get better brake feel if you adjust the rear brakes, so the shoes sit closer to the drums. If the brakes are OEM, they are probably due for at least inspection. Brake fluid changing is a good idea, though you may wish to have spare bleeder valves handy, or even a spare rear wheel (brake) cylinder on hand, in case a bleeder valve shears off (my experience!). In other words, don't try to change brake fluid in the morning, when you'll need the van in the afternoon.

I'm a little surprised your alignment provider didn't suggest suspension parts. The van is heavy, and your parts are 12 years old. Things wear, so getting a good, firm alignment is not easy. There are many threads here on struts, control arms, etc.

Other than that, don't fix it til it breaks.

change the oil and filter according to the "extreme" schedule. Then every year, do the following; change the transmission fluid (no flush, just the easy to change part) ; change the coolant (same deal, no flush, just the radiator and reservoir); Change the brake fluid; change the power steering fluid; Seafoam the intake (while running). Also change the timing belt, water pump, pullies, etc. according to the schedule. Plugs according to the schedule too. air filter every 2 years. The thing will run forever.
