New Van Break-in period?

Going to pickup my 2011 Sienna on Thursday in another city (about 300 miles away).

Is there a recommended break-in period? Does it even matter these days?

Nope. No break-in period as such.

IIRC, the only thing that you should do is make sure that you don't cruise at constant speeds. I think I read that in the owner's manual.
Don't use cruise control for the first 1000? miles.

Some people recommend changing the oil within the first 1000 miles or so. I didn't do that but I don't see any harm.

I haven't read much about it with regard to the Sienna, but my last new car was a 2006 CR-V for which you were explicitly told to absolutely not change the oil early because the factory fill was a special high-moly oil that was supposed to help with engine break-in (allegedly it wasn't just straight Honda oil you'd get from the dealer). I'm fairly certain that people that change after 1000 miles are practicing major overkill (no, not trying to start a fight - your car, do whatever the heck you want).

I did read in my manual that for the first 1000 miles you are to avoid quick acceleration, hard braking and constant speeds. If you are a cruise user (as I am), I would suggest that on your 300 mile journey you should just change the speed by 5-10 miles per hour every 5 or 10 minutes.

Just drive normal and don't beat it and it will be fine, if your real concerned change the oil at 2500.

The only thing you can *really* screw up is you can glaze the new brakes. This is typically not an issue if you drive normal/gentle for at least 500 miles before trying repeated panic stops or anything crazy like that.
