Whenever its humid or rain outside and if i turn vent ON - it blows air that smells like rotten food.
If i turn ON circulation button then smell will stop after a while.

I dont have wet carpet. i have changed cabin filter. My car is clean as it can get. This smell is reagdless of AC or heater on, it all depends upon if weather is humid and wet outside.

Appreciate any suggestion?

You can try to spray some air freshener down the mesh right below your windshield wiper arms. That black plastic trim with the mesh is where fresh air comes in for the cabin.
Ours is the same. The "fresh air" setting really stinks when it's raining and so we never use it, especially when the van is idling.
It was hilarious the first time we noticed the smell. We all checked our shoes and clothes to find the problem. Took a while to figure out that it was the van.

Yes there is some stuff on the market for the A/C system that helps the mold/meldew that accumilates in the HVAC system. I bought some stuff from Car-Quest (you can get it at most car-care places) Read the label for proper use of the product. I used up the last of my can in Sept/Oct? so I can't give you the proper name of the product that I used. There are tons of these products on the market. I do mine twice a year (if I remember ;D) both front and back.

Give it a try and let us know if it made a difference for you??
Where do you live? Is it a humid climate? I haven't had this happen in dry Colorado so I wonder if it's a southern or coastal issue.
Blame it on the kids, that's what I do ;D

Seriously, if it hasn't gone away by now, it is probably mold and not truly a dead animal.
I would try to spray some Lysol in the mesh. It has a disinfectant to kill mold. Run the vent, but don't directly breathe the air coming out when spraying and see if that helps.
i live in chicago area.
i can understand if this were to happen in summer when AC is used by i wonder what's the reason for in winter time.

Here's a trick. While it is not raining, but sunny out, spray water on your front windshield and turn on your vents and see if you can duplicate the problem. Just make sure that the outside temp. is not below freezing or you'll be in for a doozy.

This will determine whether there is something with the HVAC or is it just the smell of the rain.
