Yup. There is a shortage on FOBs. You will be notified when it comes in. Will need to be programmed at no charge. When?? Who knows. It sucks.
RAV4 and a couple other models are affected also.

Same for my XLE in early Nov. purchase....1 key. a formal announcement was made; I saw it there so I knew to expect it on pick-up day.

dealer didn't do a very good job of the explanation; other than, we were just notified, you'll be contacted when we know more.

I was promised a second key "in about a month". I appreciate that they informed me of this before purchase. While it is about as convenient as a broken leg, I completely understand that it does not do a lot of good to complain about shortages of parts. I much prefer a "delay on the second key" to a delay on the whole car delivery!

I was not given a timeline because the sales guy I had wasn't even aware and I figure if I asked they would just make it up. Even the news article I read did not have a timeline.

I'm almost at 2 months now since delivery.

The dealership I’m purchasing this Sienna from is over 1-1/2 hrs away. My local dealership is 15 minutes away. This begs the question…do I need to go back to where I bought from?
As of today there is no timeline on when the FOBs will be available nor how they are going to do it. I would think the second FOB will go to the dealer that you bought it from. I am sure you can special request it to be at a nearby dealer?? Only time will tell when they come out on how they are going to do it.

We picked up on the 23rd. Also only one key. They said when it was available they would send to me since dealer was also 1.5 hrs away…. They also mentioned that when the second FOB does get programmed at the dealership we would get a some kind of notification on the car itself that a new key was paired…

locksmiths cannot program the keys, and no, dealers don't have them, which is why they are only shipping 1 with each car right now.

I just got my LE yesterday, same thing. They did give me the 2nd physical key (that slides into the remote). The physical key can open the driver's door, but does anyone know if it can be used to start the car?
No. It is just to unlock the door. The FOB has immobilizer stuff.

In some other cars, you can remove the cover which says "start" insert a mechanical key and start it. I have not tried that with the Sienna. Those cars have a microchip in the key, not in the fob, that starts the car.
A single key with my wife and I both using the Sienna is as convenient as a broken leg. She drops her key into "cyberspace hiding place" (her purse), and it can never be found again by humans, in under 45 minutes. So, if Im in a hurry, and the other car is blocked in the driveway by the Sienna, I have to turn my man card into all my neighbors, carry my wifes purse, then ask for my man card back. Once I lost a key fob to a car for a year. THe wife changes purses (again) and, sure enough there is the lost key fob in an old purse. So, you have to go through about 40 purses to find ONE key fob. That takes at least 40-45 minutes. Im mostly getting her to drive the other car, which has only one fob, but two keys. A key will start my 2005 Cadillac deville just fine. No fob needed, but you will have to adjust the mirrors, because the key fob controls the memory for the seats, and memory for the mirrors.

the gen 4 sienna's cannot be started with a key, the keyfob must be present in the front area of the vehicle.
