Our 2005 rear hatch is now in manual mode. No beeps, no nothing. Just stopped working. I did a search of the site and did not find anything. I will be starting by tracking down the fuse. Anyone else gone through this?

Thanks!

did you figure this out? My power rear hatch power opens but won't power close.

actually a month ago the power close started working again. But then it stopped again last week.

the only thing that might have triggered it is I put in a new battery right before it started to not power close. coincidence or cause?

Yes....re-initialize whenever you have replaced or disconnected the battery (and possibly any relevant fuses).
You need to "manually" cycle through the entire fully opened to fully closed sequence for all power windows, power sliding doors, power rear hatch, power moonroof, etc.

YMMV.

How does one go about initializing the power rear hatch?

MANUALLY open and close = 1 full cycle.
There is a set of 2 power switches to the lower left of the steering wheel on the lower dashboard panel....near where the driver's left knee would be. PUSH IN to turn OFF power assistance to the sliding doors & rear hatch. Go to the rear-outside of the car and open/close the rear hatch manually.

For some reasons my 04 xle won't close the power lift gate either with the remote or use the button inside the car. I was worried that the motor was dead, but it started working again after the following steps.
Here are the steps I did to get it working again.

1. Unhook the battery neg terminal. ( I left mine unhooked for 3 hours)
2. Open the lift gate manually
3. Push the lift gate next to your left kneed until you don't see any red
4. Hook back the neg battery terminal.
5. Push the lift gate next to your left kneed again. you should see the red now.
6. Either use your remote control or the power lift gate button inside your car to close the power lift gate.
It should work now. That how I got mine to work again.
Hope this helps.

My 2005 rear hatch started sagging when open. dealership replace the shocks. it will go up and doesn't sag - but immediately closes on its own. got tired of it closing on top of me so I switched to manual mode. dealership said that I needed a new motor. anyone else with this situation. Now my side door won't open.

We had a similar problem, it was a recall issue on the 05 and dealership fixed.

Power door ?

We just had the same problem, searching brought me here. It is a common problem.

Dealer wanted $1200 to replace motors. We are just going to deal with manually opening for now.

Thank you! This fixed my issue after I replaced/fixed my rear gate switch. Got scared there for a sec
