Is there a way to tell the car that "Yes, I know the kids are unbuckled and out of their seats, there is no need to beep for 12 years straight."? Going through car line at school they unbuckle a few moments early to get their backpacks and such ready to get out the van but that beeping is grating until I put it in park to open the door.

from experience I can tell you that once they buckle up the car will not shut itself off. The way I have found it to work is if Im at the car line is to shut the van off, and then on with the kids unbuckled

Can only be disabled via OBD port via use of a vehicle settings adjustment software like Carista. Toyota techs can do it too using Techstream, but generally won’t due to safety and liability concerns.

Easiest way out of it is to have your kids buckle up empty seats before the get off.
