Recently replaced radiator, can't fill with all 3.5 gallons of coolant

I recently had a local freelance mechanic change my radiator in my 98 LE 6 cyl 3.0, he only put 1 gallon of coolant because I bought the coolant and misunderstood I needed to buy 4 gallons, I've tried to add the additional gallons but it's filled up, I've burped it with the heater at full blast like your supposed to but it makes no difference, there doesn't appear to be a bleed valve on top of the radiator like I've read there is supposed to be, is it possible there is still coolant in the engine from before and that's why I can't add more? I've been able to drive it a few miles with no overheating although I"m not sure about the cooling fans, the seem to only go on when the AC is on, could it be a bad thermostat? I need to do some further testing. All this going on while I"m having a nightmare going on with the break booster hard lines and radiator coolant lines rusted on my old motorhome I'm living in. Murphy seem to be falling me around or Mercury in Retrograde if you are familiar with that. Thanks for any info.

1 gallon sounds about right for a radiator change only, the coolant in the heater core nor block get drained when the radiator was removed, I believe the max amount of coolant is 10 to 12 quarts in the 3.0.

If it's not overheating I'd drive it a bit and check the level again, rad fans usually come on around 200 to 208f.

Something is not right yesterday I drove at least 50 miles, with the reservoir full today I go to check it and not only is it empty but I’m down close to a quart of coolant in the radiator, what could be causing this?

Could be because not all the air was bled out the system, If you don't see any visible leaks from hoses or the radiator I would assume that was the cause.
As far as I can see no visible coolant leak, I’ll try to bleed it again I guess thanks
Is it overheating at all? At least if the temps are holding steady you shouldnt be too concerned just yet.

No overheating that I can tell but now I have a bigger problem I"m losing coolant at an alarming rate there is a visible leak behind the oil pan, I have to keep adding fluid to the reservoir daily, a mechanic buddy of mine in Alberta I'm in Texas so he can't much more than diagnose online, he says it's most likely the manifold either bad gasket or cracked manifold, I really need to get it checked out as soon as I can, I"m working on finding a local shop I can take it to or if they have a mobile mechanic that can look at it. Gonna start a new thread since this is a new issue.
