Hello all,

I start to hear this squeaky noise from the third row of my 2012 Sienna.

The found issue is that the hook connecting the seat and the floor is not very tight. So when the car drives at a high speed, the hook vibrates and generates the noise.
I have tried to put some lubricant white grease and it still generate such a noise.

Does anyone have a similar issue? I need to know how to fix it?

Thank you

My 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE had this exact same problem. Everything was fine until the weather started to cool at which point we heard this awful rattling, almost like a cup of coins in the third row seat. We took everything out to see if it was something we had. It was the third row. Long story short, we took the car in and they greased it up but I heard the sound driving off the lot. Went in again and I was told that we should just fold down the third row seat or put a weight on it (I bought a minivan for the seating capacity, not the looks, I need the seats for small kids who don't weigh a lot)or that we should blast the heat back there. Next I contacted Toyota corporate and they had me take the car in again in order to establish a task case. I did that, at which point they ordered the cushioning for the latches. Once they installed these the sound went away for about five days. Now it is back and I have called corporate again. From what I see on this forum, nobody is having much luck. I can't believe that on a minivan this expensive that I have to deal with this sound. Even with the radio blasting it is still audible. I would be interested to know if anybody has gone through litigation or arbitration on this issue.

My '13 XLE AWD has been at the dealer for the past week as they're trying to sort a rattle in the driver side 2nd row seat, it seems to be coming from the seat frame and they've ordered one from Toyota and it should be installed by next week. They gave me a '13 LE as a loaner with 5k on it that is rattle free.

My third row eventually developed the rattle, I wrapped the metal rings (on the seat floor) with a layer of cloth tape, that seemed to fix the third row rattle. I usually have all the seats upright, but I don't think I'd've taken too kindly to the suggestion of just leaving them down. One caveat about the tape solution, one layer seems to last three months or so with moderate use before the tape starts wearing through, and it's a bit more difficult to yank the seat down off the latch with the tape on. It's definitely quieter though. A 2nd layer of tape will be highly effective in quelling the noise, but the seat will then be almost impossible to latch and unlatch.

Overall I'm a bit disappointed in the quality control of these vehicles, I'd be even more upset had I paid close to $50k for a Limited. They say they've "never heard of a rattle like this one" in my 2nd row seat, and they're tearing the seat completely apart to fix it. Unfortunately there isn't really much competition in the context of an AWD 7 passenger vehicle with this much room.

I had same problem. Spent a few hours at the dealer on a sunny saturday and they still couldn't fix it. So instead of going on a rant about how annoying it is that I left Dodge for Toyota yet quality is still an issue, I'll just share a quick fix. I used black friction tape (looks just like hockey tape but not that sticky). I cut small pieces and super-glued them to every latch on the floor of the van. At first I didn't glue them but then each time I stowed the seat, the tape came off so the glue is critical. I had tried duct tape, electrical tape, felt tape, etc and this is the only solution that works to remedy the noise but still allow the seat to make full contact with the latch. Remember when you are putting anything on the latch, the seat needs to grab all four latches for safety reasons. That is why the friction tape is good-one small piece allows for contact and noise elimination.
