Sienna radiator leaking AGAIN...warranty?

37044 Views 44 Replies 21 Participants Last post by  RonLS
This is utter BS. I NOW NEED A 4th RADIATOR. Can someone remind me what the warranty is for factory replaced parts? The other 2 were replaced under the radiator campaign.

I think I am done with Toyota. After being a loyal customer for years, this is the last straw.

I would just call the dealer and let them know. Let them bring up the time period for replacement if at all.
Makes me wonder if they replaced it at all or whether the leak is somewhere else. 4 times is way too much for a coincidence with the same problem.
I would also call Toyota and let them make a note of it.

Well, the last time they replaced it, it was definitely replaced. I took a look and it was a new part. The leak is in the same spot as last time - the upper driver's side. The leak is where the core material enters the side piece.

Anyone have the number for Toyota complaints? (The phone is probably still ringing off the hook)

11/2004 - 21k miles - first replacement
10/2007 - 80k miles - second replacement
04/2010 - 130k miles - in need of 3RD replacement

Seems like they are only lasting 50-60k miles for me.
I would get an aftermarket radiator and have the dealership install it. Then, take the new radiator and sell it on Ebay. :D
Sorry about the run of bad radiators....

Thanks, I will be calling tomorrow. You'd think after 6 years they would be able to fix the issue with the radiator vendor, but I guess if you can't get a gas pedal right, how are you expected to do anything else?
I can see this being very frustrating for you. Try to keep in mind that very few other owners have this kind of issue with their siennas. Rather than just blankly replacing the radiator again, maybe it is a symptom of something else. Possibly the radiator mounts aren't installed properly and there is too much strain on it somewhere. Maybe the hose where it breaks is incorrectly short and strains the fitting. Try to get a tech to check into the rest of the associated pieces to find a problem.

I'd like to hear from other owners who have had to replace their's more than once. I'm pretty sure I remember multiple people having this problem on the other site.

The same dealer replaced all of them for me. I don't know if I should go to another dealer for a second opinion or what. Seems like the first dealer isn't doing something right.
If you have all of the old paperwork.....try to see if they used the same part numbers, or if there were changes along the way. Or perhaps the dealer has those records. It'd be interesting to see if there were updates/changes/improvements (or different suppliers) made along the way...
Someone have the TSB about the radiator campaign? I want to check some part numbers like topspy mentioned.
I don't.......but here is something you could try....
Look up the radiator for your vehicle at www.toyotapartszone.com .....use your VIN and see what part number(s) they list for YOUR vehicle.
So you have the full aluminum radiator correct. The latest edition has been revised and has plastic tanks on the ends. From what I hear it comes with new fan shroud and fans too.

Mine is leaking @ the same spot. Drivers side upper corner.

Yep all aluminum. When did the latest edition come out??
Yep, exact same spot as mine...same spot as the time before.

Part number on toyodiy.com is 16041-0A390
Toyotapartszone.com says it was updated to 16041-0A402
Another part vendor site is saying the part was updated to 16410YZZAX (?)

Part number on my last repair bill is 04004-4010A (??).
Searching by part number on the part sites, it comes up as a "radiator kit", but I have no idea if it is the right part.

Called the Toyota number and told them the story. Supposedly someone from the dealer is going to call me - we shall see.

Can you let me know where you obtained this info?

Sure. I was looking into it last year before a trip. I knew my rad was leaking and it was minor. I was at the dealer and they told me the new rad was updated from the one I had in my sienna. Keep in mind this was last summer. I got them to print off the part list. rrrr can't find it.

I will see if I can find it in the next day or so. BTW. I stll have not changed the rad. It is a minor leak and is not leaking to the ground.

the 16041-0A390 part number is for the 5/8" standard radiator.....16041-0A402 is the 1" larger cooling radiator for cooling up to 3500#

04004-4010A what size is this radiator? is it 1" or 5/8"???

can you check?
