I have had/have a squeaky windshield from time to time and it turned out to be the edge of the plastic cowling that lays in front of the windshield collecting dust and rubbing against the glass. This issue was discussed on the old site and I have succeeded in partially curing the problem by removing and cleaning it and the glass where it meets. This for the most part deals with the issue, but it appears that I need something that will create a barrier between the hard plastic and the glass. I was thinking of maybe some type of tape or spray. But tape may wear and need replacing, at which time it may be hard to remove, and I am thinking that a spray may either collect more dust or break the plastic down over time. Does anyone have any ideas or solutions to this?

EDIT: corrected typo in description

Wasn't there a TSB on this??
I think the "fix" was to install some foam tape between the two surfaces??
Or was that for the dashboard/windshield ??? ??? ???

Someone with a better memory/experience....???

That "whistle" could be almost anything that is protruding into the airflow stream, or sometimes the tires on certain types of pavement (which may also depend on the tire model, tread pattern, rubber compound, temperature, inflation pressure, alignment, etc), or maybe even a leaf stuck in the cowl/hood gaps.

Usual culprits are exterior mirror housings, wipers, body panels/door edges, door handles, window trim, cargo rack crossbars, etc....
Might also be radio interference, ventilation system blowers/fans/vents, or transmission/engine compartment noises.

If you have kids, they are in BIG trouble with your wife's "SUPER-MEGA MOM HEARING" ability.....(reminds me of an old joke/story routine Eddie Murphy used to do)....hahhahhaha.... ;D ;D ;D

YMMV.
Good Luck!! 8)

I was also wondering if foam tape would work, but thought that it may trap water and cause problems with a freeze/thaw cycle. Maybe some type of rubber compound or tape (if there is such a thing)?

Look for tape that uses "closed cell" foam tape. It does not wick or absorb water.
