"Staying Safer in the Back" vs. Less Safe In the Driver's Seat!

See February 2022 Consumer Reports article "Staying Safer in the Back Seat". Interesting how Consumer Reports rated Toyota Sienna "safest in the back" when Toyota's NHTSA rating for the Driver Frontal Crash rating was downgraded from 5 star to 3 star. You have to wonder did Toyota do the second row "convenience compromise" in order to keep its Overall Vehicle Score at 5? In the absence of very safe crash engineering for the hybrid engine configuration, the driver takes a hit, but NHTSA isn't too concerned. This long time Sienna buyer certainly is!

Did the article say why the driver's safety was downgraded? I was concerned when I saw that on the sticker sheet, too.
