I use either Duralast Gold Ceramic Brake Pads from auto zone or Carquest Professional Platinum Ceramic Brake Pads from advanced auto parts on my 06 XLE for many years. Both works fine.

You know I never specified brakes in the past -just dropped it at the mechanic. Always worked, although sometimes wore faster, not necessarily a function of the pads on my ancient vehicles in rough conditions

Got my Advic rotors and pads today from Rock. Interestingly, the rotors say DO NOT CLEAN! and the pads, while completely flat, on the box picture, there is a clear "angle" cut into the upper surface on one side of each pad. I've read about people cutting them down in this way. Which should it be -straight as it comes or wear the corner downward for what I assume is less vibration?

Brakes back on, back two lines bled with the handy one man tube and container method. So far, not issues, but haven't taken it out to test. In an hour and if good, my first complete brake job. Thanks to all advice. Now if there was only something I could do about this northern rust...

All good on the road. I don't think I did the "bedding" procedure properly, but then each website says something different so it'll have to be ok. Long drive tomorrow so hopefully all is good! Thanks again for talking me through the process.

Strictly speaking, you don't HAVE to bed in the brakes. Normal driving over a couple of weeks will do the same. The only caveat is that you may not get maximum performance when emergency braking, steep inclines, etc. for a couple weeks. A lot of the quick-change pad slap places don't even bother doing this. So, you should just drive a little cautiously. That said, you had a stuck caliper, so you braking was already compromised.
