Lol. Maybe.. I don't recall. They are paper like washers, not aluminum like my Subaru. The crush washers are packaged along with the filters. No need to buy separately.

The oil drain plug on parts.toyota.com doesn't appear to be an aluminum crush washer, but some sort of plastic or composite material. It supersedes a lot of part numbers though, so they may have been aluminum originally, and dealers may still have aluminum ones?Nope. Metal crush washer is in the filter box if you buy from a dealer.

Not at my dealer. I buy filters at the dealer and the washers in packs of 10 from Amazon. The crush washers are packaged along with the filters. No need to buy separately.

I've bought OEM filters at three local dealerships and none of them come with the crush washer. I guess you're just lucky! The crush washers are packaged along with the filters. No need to buy separately.

I would think that would be a good thing. Dirty oil still moving is better than no oil.Supposedly it is engineered to be such that the engine would not starve of lubrication if the filter gets clogged. Thoughts?
I quite agree !! It is the point ( force , pressure?) at which the bypass valve opens that concerns me . What if more force is required by other filters when compared to the Toyota ones? It means that the engine "could " be starved of oil ,if even momentarily. So I guess the filter for the engine that is recommended will bypass at a certain point to provide continuous flow. I wonder how dirty the engine oil has to be?Dirty oil still moving is better than no oil.
