Going to a 3x drain/fill on my transmission fluid soon as well as change the filter and add a magnefine filter to our 09 Sienna.

I see the drain plug is 36 ft/lbs but cant seem to find the torque for the pan bolts. Also, do you tighten the pan bolts like a tire, across from each other and work your way around?

Thanks.

The transmission pan bolts should be in the area of 3.6 - 4 ft-lbs which equals around 43 - 48 inch-lbs. (beware: some manuals put ft-lbs when they actually mean inch-lbs). The torque range that I mentioned is what feels like a tight "snug" fit by hand when using a short handle wrench or choking down on a longer wrench. If over-done, the gasket gets too compressed and at worst case, the bolt breaks off. It is best to go lighter and retighten if(or when) a leak is detected. And yes, tighten in a cross pattern sequence in several passes. Not super critical (like head bolts) but you should distribute the pressure evenly. You have the right idea.
