Great! I am very interested in this. Are you are using the ebay MIT LED turn signal from ebay?!
No. But would like the LED lights as an option. I have the 3 in 1 turn signals from MIT installed in my other vehicles and loved them.

Here are a few pictures of the mirror cover and will be posting the mod process here in this thread. I will be using MIT/Topsage LED signal lamp/parking light. MIT(ebay) and Topsage(website) are the same company. I was thinking of using the OEM signal lamps but cost higher with no parking light option. I have used 3 in 1 signal lamps from MIT in the past and they are of high quality and never had a single problem with them. Stay tuned.

Hello guys. Just want to give you an update with the progress of this mod. Here's another teaser picture of the cover and the turn signal lamps. So far, I'm very happy with the progress. It's a perfect fit and gamble paid off. Well, not exactly 100% coz it's not installed yet in the mirror housing. But MIT assured me that the LED turn signal/parking lamp will fit the limited models since they have already tested it personally and it is reassuring to know that. If the lights fit well with the covers, there is a high probability it will fit the mirror housing. Still holding my breath though. Now, just waiting to get a chance to disassemble the mirrors and waiting for my puddle light/lens to get here. ;D;D;D

I'll tell you guys when I finally got it done. I don't want to give out information that's not right. I still need to do more homework because I'm adding the puddle lights too and I want to post it all so I won't keep answering questions. " Good things happen to those who wait ". ;)

First off, a big thanks to pigpork for his contribution to this mod.
Installation update:

1. Obtain mirror covers and LED turn signal lamps [HERE] and on Ebay from MITaccessories or you can use OEM LED turn signal lamps $57 each and make your own wiring.
2. Remove mirror from mirror housing/assembly
- tilt mirror down as far as possible and grab mirror from the top and pull mirror slowly towards you 'til it pops out
- tilt mirror motor back up to original position and pull mirror upward to release mirror from mirror motor
- mark 1 heating mirror wire and terminal with marker or painter's tape.
3. Pull out heater wire. Make sure you put one thumb on the terminal so you won't pry the terminal from the mirror as you disconnect the wire from the mirror
4. Remove mirror cover. TIP: Remove mirror covers while mirror is still attached to the body of the vehicle. Insert nails to hold tabs in position as shown in picture Fig 3 [HERE] one at a time and usually on the last one the mirror cover will just pop out.

5. Follow post #10 as demonstrated in the video to remove door panel.
6. Remove speaker from door by disconnecting speaker wire and removing 4 screws as shown in the picture Fig 5 [HERE]
7. Remove mirror assembly from the vehicle by unscrewing 3 nuts as shown in picture Fig 4 [HERE] and install turn signal lamps to mirror housing using 2 #8 x 3/8 screws [HERE]. Would suggest wrapping wiring with electrical tape 3 in. from lamp to about a foot in length. Check here in this picture [HERE]
8. Remove tape as shown in the picture Fig 4[HERE] and route wire following path of wiring harness from mirror to inside of vehicle. You also need to remove plastic cover on bottom of mirror arm and separate insulation/gasket. TIP: start at the bottom gasket/insulation to mid portion where wire enters the vehicle. You don’t need to separate the whole insulation/gasket from the bottom to the top or vice versa.
9. Reinstall mirror housing back and reconnect heater wire before reinstallation of mirror to mirror motor.
10. Route turn signal mirror wires following factory wiring harness and use zip ties to secure it. Refer to picture Fig 1 [HERE]. Loose wiring can be cut or break if wire is in the way of the glass window as it slides down. MAKE SURE WINDOWS ARE UP.
11. Remove rubber grommet between door frame and vehicle (rubber that you see in between the door frame and vehicle frame) TIP: Start at the bottom - door frame section as seen in picture Fig 1[HERE] . Get your hand through the speaker door opening and squeeze/pinch the rubber grommet and push it out.
12. Remove floor panels/kick panel as shown in picture Fig 9 [HERE]. Passenger side - you need to remove glove box by taking out 2 screws and 2 10mm bolts as seen in picture Fig 11 [HERE]
13. Unplug this 2 wire harness connector as show in picture Fig 10 [HERE] for passenger side and Fig 8 [HERE] for driver side that supplies power to mirror and door
14. Remove top rubber grommet by using a long nose pliers or nylon prying tool while pushing the wiring harness you just unplugged from the inside to the outside. Once the rubber grommet is taken out, position it vertically(reposition rubber gourmet so it is not twisted) in between the door frame and vehicle body as seen in the picture Fig 2 [HERE] – this will make the wire go through easily and easier. Guide a hanger wire through and turn signal wiring through it and insert it through the opening where the rubber gourmet came from. Reinstall rubber grommet starting from the top one – start to insert the front to rear of the top rubber grommet. Do the bottom next – easy one. Do the same thing on driver’s side and reinstall speaker and door panel.
15. Wiring connections:
- Wire from LED turn signal lamp
: Black is ground
: Blue is parking light – white LED
: Red is turn signal – yellow LED
NOTE: You can opt to use parking light or not by not using/connecting blue wire. I opted to use it with a switch so I can turn if off and on if I need to. I have this LED switch as seen in picture Fig 14[HERE] from MIT in my other vehicles and liked it so much. Fits in the blank slots perfectly like a glove and lights up(DRL) when parking light is on/LED parking light off at night in matching green color [HERE] and on indicator [HERE].
16. Tapping wires: See picture for wire color code for parking light [HERE] and turn signal wires [HERE]
17.Where to find the harness. Remove 2 bolts to remove driver side panel [HERE] and start from bottom left to right. You need to cut blue tape that holds power door switch wire to lower the panel down. Once taken out you will see this [HERE]Be careful removing this. You need to insert a flat screw driver just below the top of the lever arm and push it down before you pull lever arm to release it. Once you have taken it off, push the harness downward to have more room to work with it as seen [HERE]
18. Route passenger wiring through [HERE] with a hanger wire. Would help if you lit up the driver’s side with light so you can have an idea where the hanger will go through when peeping through the hole from the passenger side. [HERE] is after the wire has passed through and tied up.
19. Hook the hanger wire you just inserted from the passenger side with another wire as shown [HERE]. After wire was fished out [HERE]. The wire can go straight to the ECU but it goes under a cable. I suspect that the cable was from the shifter and passing it through here may be dangerous because shifting may malfunction. I opted to just go below it and before it. I would suggest having a red tape or any visible color at the tip of the hanger wire to improve visibility of the hanger tip since you have little room to have good visual. Need a lot of light under the dash to do this. I use black tape and made it difficult to find it.
20. Let wire loom pass on top of ignition harness with some slack to have room for steering column adjustment up and down. Tie it with wire tie to secure it as seen [HERE].
21. Connect respective wires to harness as seen [HERE] and [HERE]. Ground connected [HERE]. Reinstall all necessary parts back and you are done. My connections are soldered. Harness looks like this [HERE] after final connections were made.

My purpose for this tutorial is to make it easy on your part. Please feel free to chime in any better ideas with this installation. Your installation maybe different than mine and maybe even better. That’s what we are here for. Helping one another. I hope this will be of great help to those who would like to do this mod.

Since I already have the turn signal mirrors (standard o 13 limited) how easy would it be to wire so my mirror lights stay on when I turn on my lights? Thanks
If you mean the puddle lamps under the mirrors I suppose you could dig into the wiring harness somewhere, cut the wire going to the ECU that turns the lamps on/of via the motion detector and hard wire the puddle lamps to the low beam headlight circut. Maybe I don't understand the question since the puddle lamps should not be on while driving and you probably wouldn't want lose a great feature like the motion detector function.

The wiring harness passes from leading edge of the door into the car interior but it might be hard to dig into it based on my experience in installing OEM mirror turn signals on our Prius.

The puddle lights are too bright for this. Just get the dual LED turn mirrors from MIT (ebay). Thats what most of us with regular mirrors did. The come on with the lights and always stay on (white) but flash amber when turning.

I know how to wire them but the problem is that the OEM lights were not designed to be visible from the front but for the rear and sides only. So if you check it out by turning your turn signals on, it is not visible from the front unlike the ones we installed. That itself defeats the purpose of keeping it turned on when the parking lights are on. Here's what the parking looks like when turned on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr1DDFTJlI8&feature=youtu.be and here's what it looks like when transitioning from parking to turn signal and back to parking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=457KiTg8EK4&feature=youtu.be I will 2nd luvmysienna's suggestion.
