Just went back from Walmart, opened the truck, and found a bottle (2L) of Fanta tipped over and spilled all over the trunk well. It's completely soaked. I did a little research, and I don't think the battery is underneath the trunk well, but I also couldn't find what exactly is underneath it that could be potentially water damaged. Should I be worried? What should I do?

I really appreciate any advice you can provide!

I bought my 14 used in 2016 and while it was certified, it was a mess. I went to the Dollar Tree and bought their general cleaner to clean the interior. Looked great, smelled great. This year after traveling to Louisiana I had a mystery spill show up in the cargo area. Had just bought a small carpet cleaner so hit the rear area and sucked all kinds of crud from the carpet. Better than new now and easy enough that it inspired me to remove all the seats and the console for a top to bottom cleaning.

I want you to avoid the mistake I made with 1-2 gallons of water. Go ahead and pull the trim plastic now and lift up the carpet and underpad. If you don't, it WILL mold and stink. I just dried mine out, but I made the mistake of thinking the hot summer sun and blowing a fan on it every night would be enough. Fast forward a week or two and the smell is unbearable and the carpet is still noticeably moist in the afternoons (felt dry in the morning!). The pad holds in a lot of moisture and without pulling it all up and letting it dry from both sides, it will just continue to get worse.

Get a small carpet cleaner from wally world and go to town on the carpet.
I have found that they do a great job at sucking stains.
Basically you inject clean water with a cleaning solution and you extract the dirty water.

My friend threw up in back seat and it got inside the solar shade and window seals. Months later I was still picking out little chunks of rice.

Lesson learned: Don't volunteer to bring drunk people home.
I have a nicer friend.

He told me to roll down windows and we left a nice streak on the highway at 3am!!
