Other than Escort RD, the Escort M1 DashCam will work with both generation of Valentine One RD and the Uniden R7 RD as well since they all uses RJ11. They are mounted on the rearview mirror with BlendMount and MirroTap for power. As for wiring on the back of the mirror, Black/White wire is ground, Blue wire is 12V with ignition on.
Competition is good for the consumers. If you are not up to date about the RD, there are currently 3 great RD on the market. All 3 have their pros and cons, watch the video if you want to know more about them.
And if you interested in integrating DashCam with a RD, apparently Escort has a M2 in the work.
R7 the best and quietest stand alone of the 3. For a long long time and even for the V1 G2 , there is no auto mute. I just really don't understand Mike V's thinking even though patents has already expired. 😧
Interview on Vortex Radar when V1G2 first came out. Shed some light on his thinking on V1G2's development. I think Uniden R7 pushed the development of the V1G2 as V1 was pretty much unchallenged until R7 was released. Honestly tho, you can't really go wrong with any of the 3 above.
I've listened to that video interview when Vortex posted it at RD forum the first time. Like you stated, you won't go wrong with the top 3. It's a matter of personal preference.
