Anyone from ON ordered from a dealership in AB/SK by any chance? Seems they have a lot more inventory in comparison, only issue would be dealership willingness to sell and transportation.
I'm from Toronto and recently asked about this. The dealers are reluctant to sell out of province and basically requires you to buy in person and do lease or finance (no cash deals) to avoid export sales. The dealerships I talked to had similar wait times to what I've been told around here anyway so I didn't look further.

If you take a look on Autotrader.ca SK/AB has a lot of listings - though some may be phantom stock so have to verify individually.
Phantom stock most likely. A sales from Edmonton told me that recently AMVIC started requiring all dealer inventory to be listed even if they've been preordered. Not sure if it's true or not, but what is pretty certain is the dealers aren't sitting on stock.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good dealer to work with in the GTA? I've talked to just about a sales at every dealer in the area but I'd like to hear from people with actual experience closing the deal and actually getting their car. I'm about to place an order for an LE AWD.

Finally bit the bullet and put in an order for an XSE AWD without tech. I'm in the GTA and dealer said the wait is 9-12 months, but who knows. A few tidbits I learned in my shopping adventure. First, there are quite a lot of buyers who reserve one and don't come pick up (at least from the dealer I bought from), so there's a fair chance of getting a car earlier if you're flexible with trim/color. Two, if you're persistent and call around, you can find cars that are on the way in that aren't spoken for. For example, one dealer offered a FWD XSE coming in April that I could have bought. I passed because I'm set on AWD.

If there's any other options for van, I would not get toyota. it's very annooying.
I've read they removed Digital Rearview Mirror but not sure it affected to my order.
I heard that the Limited trim is especially hard to get a hold of, good that you finally managed to get yours.

I totally hear you on wishing there were options. It's the main reason we took so long to finally put in our order. I just got so tired of the whole process and uncertainty of when we'd actually get a vehicle. Plus the annoying dealer tactics (posting phantom stock, bogus fees, forced add-ons, forcing me to lease/finance because they say I'm exporting it if I pay cash). But we couldn't find a suitable alternative in terms of fuel economy and reliability, and we were dead set on a van as opposed to an SUV. I'm glad I finally found a dealer who would deal straight with me, but that still doesn't help the wait. Can't believe I purchased a van in February but likely won't even have it until winter comes again...

I have a thought, most of the guys here put their orders back in 2021, I saw them mainly in June to Nov, as the 4th gen got released in the last month of 2020 and most people held the order for a while until the reviews out. After Nov 2021, the situation got too bad so I assume there were fewer orders from then. So Feb 2022 IMO should be a good time and I guess you will get yours sooner than the salesman has told you. When the productivity raises, the orders will resume so maybe Apr or May 2022 is the worst time to put orders.
That was an interesting thought so I decided to see if there's any information. Here are the Sienna sales numbers in Canada over the past 2 years:

Now, I'm pretty sure they only count a sale when the vehicle is delivered. If this is true, the deliveries have been quite low since December, and especially last month. Of course, this doesn't really address your theory on how many people were added to the list, but it certainly doesn't seem encouraging in terms of clearing that backlog. Only hope things pick up soon.

That's something I was worried before. I am not that old fashioned but just not a big fan of digital everything. I'll trust a simple mirror rather than the complex digital mirror in the long lasting side. Now as it's discounted, this makes me more concerned about the repair in the future.
I wouldn't worry about spare parts in the long run. This is all due to temporary supply chain issues, and I would think that Toyota has every intention to bring the feature back once they become available (just like the mythical fridge and vacuum).
On top of that, if you prefer a simple mirror, you can always install a less expensive mirror from the lower trims in the future if your digital one has issues.

Ours has the ottomans and digital rear view mirror. I’m not crazy about the rear view mirror, it stays off.
I see a good opportunity for you to swap with someone who can't get the digital rear view due to shortage. I'm sure you'll find someone really happy to swap+cash with you. :)

On that topic, noticed that they've updated the Toyota website. The wording seems to support the thought that the feature delete is temporary and they'll try to bring it back as soon as supply chains allow.

Lool he said it doesnt matter the trim:mad:
I've heard just about any combination of answers from dealers, given I've talked to just about every dealer in the golden horseshoe (and some beyond)... Limited is the hardest to get. LE AWD is the hardest to get. Trim doesn't matter. 3-4 months. 6-9 months. 9-12 months. Pick any number you like, I can find a dealer who can tell you that's right.
I think most of them don't have a clue what will happen and just throw out guesses. But in some cases, I also think different dealerships have very different experiences in terms of the allocations they receive.
I decided there's no way to figure out just exactly what I can order from who to guarantee getting one sooner, so I found a dealer I could work with and figured I'd get one when I get one.

I don’t think I will doing that at any point in time ha. It’s not that great of a thing anyways, it has a lot of zoom on it. Just backing it up to a vehicle now, looked like I was about to hit it in the digital part, yet the backup camera still showed it very far away. Likely 15-20 feet away still.
I think it's use case is if you have the rear entertainment screen down and can't see out the back. Or the van is completely loaded with cargo. The standard backup camera will take care of the parking situation.

If I have the choice between being number 180 on a dealership list that gets allocated 40 vans a month in Toronto, and number 7 on a dealership list that gets allocated 4 vans a month elsewhere, I know where I would rather be.
True, it's a good point, except I had trouble executing that in real life.
First, I'm not sure I could get the true information from the dealers. I tried to ask various dealers the number of pre-orders of their list, and they're not always forthcoming with the answer. In one case, the sales told me 20 on the list, and they get 4-5 a month. So I asked why he's also telling me a 9 months wait because the math doesn't add up. His answer was "it's in high demand", and I decided not to push further. Others just haw and hum and tell me they're not sure but it's "a lot".
And second, no dealership in the smaller towns would sell to me from out of town cause they are afraid I'll export the van (I don't want to finance/lease). So I'm stuck with the GTA dealers.

Ontario, at Maple Toyota
Glad they worked out for you. I was actually really close to ordering from Maple cause I heard some good things about them. But I contacted them by phone, and was promised someone in sales will call me back that day. No one did so I went elsewhere. And a week later, they called and asked if I still wanted to talk with a sales person... Too late by then.

had I known I could get that color combo, bronze on tan, I likely would have gone that way.
We were told we had to choose black or white to get that interior color. Was that a 2021 only thing? Ours got changed to a 2022 4 months after ordering g
They didn't make any interior color changes between 2021 and 2022 for Canada. Bronze only comes with tan interior.

IIRC, the monthly sales counts for Canada were around 1K per month. US is about 8 to 10K per month. I suppose Toyota forecasting and allocation may not have been adjusted for higher Canadian demand (by population ratio). May be some financial and other factors come in to play too.

I would hope Toyota tries reducing enormous Canadian wait times by redirecting some US units. 10 - 12 months wait is really out there.
I've also been comparing wait times between Canada and the US, and definitely we're in a much worse spot. There are differences in buyer tastes between the two markets even though we're close neighbors. I remember before the SUV craze, for the longest time the best selling car in Canada was the Civic (or Corolla), and the US was the Accord (or Camry), so we tend to buying smaller (maybe because our cars have always been more expensive). I guess the Sienna has been an even bigger hit here than the US.
Crazy thing is, because we're only 1/10th the market, diverting enough units to drastically lower our wait times wouldn't even impact the US all that much.

Agreed, I got lucky. It MAY have been November when I ordered. Hard to remember now haha. I've been in and out of this thread so I probably posted it in here somewhere, or I guess I could check my bill of sale. My order was weird because first I ordered non tech then switch to tech, that's why the timeline is a bit blurry. Regardless, I'm excited and will take pics, hopefully on Saturday!
Congrats! Do you mind sharing what city you're in and which dealership?

I put my order in Jan 3rd for XSE AWD in GTA and was told 3 to 4 months and maybe sooner because i have a good trade. I Was just told today that the earliest I will get it is July and looking at this thread, that is optimistic
So your dealer basically told you they manipulate the wait list based on which sale gets them the most profit, in which case I guess it's impossible to know what will happen cause it depends who else is in the queue with an even better trade or bought more pricey dealer add ons.
I guess maybe all dealers do that to a certain extent. I'm which case I'm screwed cause I don't even have a trade in...
