After a day, he got back to me saying that the dealership would rather keep it within the town, apparently folks are exporting Sienna's to China. They wont sell it to out of town folks because of that.

Pity. The guy I spoke with was super nice about it though.
I had that a lot last year when I called around basically every dealership in Ontario and few out of province (that was when my wife still insisted we try to find one in stock rather than just order one and wait). Being an Asian guy trying to purchase in cash didn't help things. A few dealerships told me they can sell to me if I finance, others flat out refused no matter what. I didn't want to jump through any hoops so eventually I ended up ordering with a GTA dealer who didn't mention anything about export to me even once.

We had similar eperience.

Got at MSRP and no admin fees.

There was never any suggestion as to how funding. We had choice to pay cash, lease or finance.
Only requirement was that we had to be from around the area but even that was very fair; as long as within 200 kms. We were from different city then dealership but close enough for them.

Then a week later started reading some dealerships wanted local city buyers only or had to sign agreement not to sell within a year or had to finance.

All things never heard about until pandemic and supply shortage.

Tell him you'll sign an agreement not to sell for one year or finance it. If do latter just pay off when want as long as no penalty.
Tried that. Even offered to lease instead of finance, for a one year term. Unfortunately, no. They need to sell it inside of their city.

Tbh, I appreciate this more than the price gouging I see in GTA.. they're at least being honest about the whole thing. In GTA the dealers are looking to make 10k off a family minivan.. not even a luxury car.

Which dealership is this?

Always good to give a shout out to dealerships not gouging customers.

Try dealerships on outskirts of GTA... cold call them as never know there might be cancellation.

I've been seeing more Siennas on road lately.

Maybe everyone should hold off and not take their orders. The dealers will be stuck with inventory and will need to apply discounts :)
Whenever possible, do call out price gouging dealerships over here. I understand for used cars, as the sellers too want the extra $. But for brand new, if someone marks up, let it be known. There has to be some consequence after this madness ends.

Agreed.

If customers don't remember and vote with their wallet then such shenanigans will continue.

Toyota.ca now updated with 2023 Sienna.
Looks like a modest in increase if about 100-600 depending on the model

Glad to see anniversary edition in Canada is getting the 1500 watt inverter which is great

Bad news is 80 basis points increase on financing

Finally! So it looks like a $600 increase for the XSE AWD model I ordered. Interestingly, the 25th Edition is listed as a Package upgrade on the XSE, and it's less expensive than the Tech Package. For the upgrades, it makes the Tech Package pricing look like complete nonsense.

Whoever manages to snag a 25th Edition is getting one heck of a deal. Congrats to whoever the winners may be.

Yeah I mean the main thing out of the tech package it is missing is the entertainment system. but whatever, with no digital rear view mirror it wouldnt be great anyways,
