I personally think the sienna hybrid is one of the best looking minivans on the market right now. Especially the XSE trim (the one I ordered). It looks better than the Odyssey, Carnival, Pacifia and the other rivals. And you cannot beat Toyota reliability even with this new hybrid drivetrain. It’s a shame that Toyota can’t keep up with the increasing demand of this new generation. I’m hearing that if you place on order today it’s gonna be a 2-3 year wait which is absolutely insane. I placed an order for a ‘22 XSE AWD with the tech package in February and at that time my dealership quoted 4-6 months which I thought was a long time to begin with. 8 months later and still no vehicle. As much as I want this new sienna I’m honestly getting impatient as I’m getting closer to the 1 year mark. Hopefully I get a call from my dealership soon.

It's going to be 1 yr wait for me next month (Nov) in BC and I expect another year wait if the supply chain is better; otherwise, I am not surprised if it's gonna be 3 yrs wait. I personally think dealers will let customers who can trade in to buy the new car first. I don't think dealer let me pay for MSRP as they can easily mark up price by selling it as used or for people who would like to trade in.

July 2021 ordered XSE tech awd from WC Toyota in BC, still waiting and no updates...
Your mistake was ordering from WC Toyota, as did a few of us around here. My salesguy was actually rude and unhelpful 14 months into the order, so I 'fired him' by complaining to management and had the assistant sales manager take over my order.

For reference, my Grey XSE AWD no tech deposit was put down in June 2, 2021. I was finally offered an XSE AWD no tech in blueprint on Monday of this week. This was the first vehicle they ever offered me since I put the deposit down. Seeing as I decided not to wait and bought an EV already, I just asked for my deposit back. Happy to say that this van went to another person here (who also fired the same sales guy lol)

I think you nailed it in your post... The only reason you're waiting so long is the dealership is playing games. There is absolutely no reason you need to wait another year for your Sienna if they were playing straight with you.
That marked up used game won't last long. Any dealership who has been playing that game needs to be called out. Scarborough Toyota, yes, I'm talking about you.

I personally believe most of the dealers in GVA are playing games. There are many members here have been waiting like 1.5ish yrs already and still no news. The marked up game will last until the supply chain is back to normal, which might be another few years. The waiting list is not transparent. Heard from one salesman that he had to fight for cars but no luck and ended up leaving the job. It's all up to the manager for the max profit they can make at current situation. Also, many advertisements have specified trade-in only for many hybrid Toyota like Rav4, Highlander as well. I really doubt the dealer will let me pick up a new Sienna without trade-in even my order has been filled and delivered.

I wonder if these dealers are limiting the trade-ins to cars less than certain age, say 5 years or newer? I am not sure there is any appetite for very old cars (10 years and older) Could the age of the trade-in be important in determining whether or not one could get bumped up the priority (favouritism) list? My car is 18 years (going 19) so I guess nobody is interested in what I have to offer.

Yep. Finally picked up the 2022 Sienna today at WC Toyota. Put deposit down in June 2021. The good thing is that the salesperson I dealt with was not actually in when I picked up the vehicle, leaving for a better experience.

I had no expectations of getting a vehicle this year, but I’m grateful that I got a 2022 because the rates are lower and the price is lower.

Surprised that 2022 model year as several people have indicated they got their 2023 anniversary recently.

Perhaps as someone suggested... they built all the anniversary trims during a 2-3 week period but not the other trims yet.

Check tire pressure as weather gets cooler.
Enjoy and post some pics.

Yes, I've heard Toyota wants Toyota brand the best and not older than 5 yrs old and not having high mileage for trade-in. My friend's Nissan got rejected and was asked to sell himself due to the age and high mileage.

When I was ordering my Sienna, the sales casually asked what I'm currently driving. I knew what he was getting at, and so I casually said back it's an older Mazda5. I already knew I'd private sell so I was ready to tell them I'm not trading in. But there was no mention of a trade-in at all after that as I completed the purchase, clearly they weren't at all interested.

I’ll try to take some pics when the weather gets better. It’s another atmospheric river passing through right now.

I imagined that with our long wait for an XSE (non tech) AWD, there might be a silver lining presented by way of upgrading to the 25th Anniversary package, even if it prolongs the wait a bit, so I followed up on that.

It turned out that the dealership is supposed to be getting 2 Siennas of that package, 1 in silver sky metallic early next next year and a second in an as-yet undetermined colour (hopefully windchill pearl) a bit later. So now we're off the regular XSE queue and queued up for the second, mystery colour 25th anniversary vehicle! The wait will continue, but now with a number of additional features we'll enjoy. I'm especially looking forward to the rear washer spraying off the camera, which is a feature I've longed for in my half ton. Hopefully the production count being limited to 2525 vehicles means that there isn't any risk of deviation in their planned dealership allocations. It's a good sort of problem to be able to have, though.

Good news for you, managing to snag the 25th anniversary edition. I'm more than a bit upset that my sales had dismissed me when I contacted him about the 25th, literally right after it was announced, pretty sure I could have been the first at my dealership.
BTW, that's 2525 vehicles for the US, plus some unknown number for Canada. By all accounts, it looks like they've already produced a whole bunch of them, but I guess based on your info, they're not making them all at once.

My dealer/sales rep are giving me monthly updates. Kind of useless information but at least I know they haven't forgotten about me.... 😅

As discussed I will be following up with you once a month with updates for your vehicle.
As of right now your vehicle is in queue but once it starts production I will be able to give you more accurate lead times.

Totally agree. I think some folks are a tad OCD on the fuel saving issue, as if nothing else matters. If you drive 8-10K per year, will switch vehicles every 3-5 years, do mostly highway driving, it may not matter that the Odyssey sucks more gas, especially if you consider the the ridiculous mark-ups (which wipes out any potential fuel savings anyways) and unreal wait-times for the Sienna. I am not crazy about the Odyssey because it is woefully outdated in the tech and driving aids/safety features, no justification to spend $55K plus taxes on an outdated car in 2022.

I am still considering the Sienna but maybe in a couple of years when they put TSS 3.0 and the new modern infortainment display on it, the wait times is more realistic and no pressure to pay mark-ups out of desperation, meanwhile, I ordered a 2023 Palisade Calligraphy with the plan to trade it in a couple of years..
Actually, the EX-l trim on the Odyssey is as good as the xse + tech on the Sienna. And with a significant price reduction. It has every single safety feature the Sienna has. Shame that the parking sensor on Sienna is available only on xse tech or above.

I was curious so i asked my dealer here in ottawa and the manager told me i was 40 out of 102 on the list. I ordered my van about 11 months ago now. lets hope they make some red limited trims so i can get my van quicker. Anyone else have any experiences with Ottawa area dealerships?
