FWIW, it takes 10 seconds to disable parking sensors when using a hitch carrier.Decided to pass on adding a hitch given the stories of the rear collision sensor when using a large bike carrier. ..
Thanks for this info! I'm wonder which brand of aftermarket hitch receiver allows the kick sensor to work? I've installed several Curt Mfg hitches, so they are my go-to, but their model seems to interfere as well. I'm happy to look at a a different brand, though!FWIW, it takes 10 seconds to disable parking sensors when using a hitch carrier.
Aftermarket hitch is still better option because it is only about 200USD vs. 950USD for factory one. With aftermarket one, you get to keep your kick sensor too.
Check out this long thread on the ecohitch. Installation is a bit more involved but looks like the best solution. Thanks for this info! My view is, 2 years is so far out that no one knows what will happen by then, and I'm certain the situation will change drastically over the next year. What is absolutely certain is that MANY on waitlists will not end up taking delivery, either because they get tired of waiting, or have multiple vehicles ordered, or the rising interest rates finally take their toll. I have been watching a few other vehicles, and long wait times are rapidly disappearing, and people are starting to talk about negotiating for discounts.Anyway, we got a bit off on a tangent from the original topic... due to concerns that I might be waiting 3-4 years to get a Sienna from my local dealership, we ended up putting another deposit down with an Alberta dealership that does very high volume sales where the salesperson was talking about a 1-2 year wait instead... I don't know if he was just being optimistic to get my deposit or what, but I figured we should at least hedge our bets a little bit by putting a second deposit down with someone else. All the BC dealerships I talked to had waitlists indicating 3-4 year waits or weren't even taking deposits anymore.
I think you are right about the automotive market generally, and I'm sure there will be people dropping off the list for Siennas as well, but I could also see the Sienna waitlist being more stubborn than the rest of the industry generally. There's going to be other people like me, for whom an AWD Sienna is really the only option for a new car that I'm considering. If my current van dies in the meantime, I'll buy an older used van and still wait for my new AWD Sienna. That is, unless Kia does something unexpected and comes out with a Hybrid AWD Carnival. I don't really see that happening though. My view is, 2 years is so far out that no one knows what will happen by then, and I'm certain the situation will change drastically over the next year.
We're considering Corolla hybrid or Cross but wait too long. Prefer a smaller, but not too small, vehicle for local city driving....
We were considering a Corolla Cross for my wife. With wait times of over 1 year for even the regular ICE model, we are looking elsewhere.
We quite like the VW Taos, but a bit worried about reliability. We're considering Corolla hybrid or Cross but wait too long. Prefer a smaller, but not too small, vehicle for local city driving.
What are you looking at instead?
Where was that?I've received two offers to purchase a used dealer car at a 20-25k markup versus MSRPfrom my dealer. Oh boy, this drama doesnt seem to get any better.
If you're open to a small third row SUV like the Tesla Y, consider the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The SEL trim level is relatively available and you can buy one almost immediately.Where was that?
I am really on the fence to buy a Tesla 7 seater (I know is night and day differences). Because of the stock and with all the problems with the markups or unclear orders I think I can have that within a month.
I guess our friend also offered you that used blue XLE for $60K eh?Erin Park.
You're right, I rechecked my texts and it's $69K... What a joke...Seems like you got a bargain. I was quoted 10k more.
I was tempted by the Mitsubishi a lot. After doing some homework I stopped looking at it. The reliability it's not there (definitely not Toyota level). Customer service (dealers) it's hit and miss. There are rumors of Mitsubishi leaving Canada (basically leaving you with a very heavy paperweight or extremely expensive car to fix without a proper trained mechanic). It looks like the fuel economy is not great on electric and hybrid (and for the car to warm up the engine will kick in a lot).If you're open to a small third row SUV like the Tesla Y, consider the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. I moved down just one spot in 4 months. Looking to do see if February adds any movemeny, if not, I'm switching to Honda Minivan or Palisade. You're right, I rechecked my texts and it's $69K... What a joke...
Did you have any luck moving up the queue? I was thinking about asking for my monthly update, but not sure my heart can take the disappointment.
Edit: Just noticed that XLE is still on the Erin Park website. Wonder how long they'll hold on to it before they drop the price. Even among overpriced used Sienna's, the pricing on this one is truly outrageous.
