I had also settled on Ecohitch as clearly being the best option due to the fact that it's the only "hidden" option that goes inside the bumper, which also means its higher up than other options and gives you more ground clearance as well. It's going to be more work and more expensive to install, but seems totally worth it.

One thing that I just noticed recently when looking at tongue weight considering putting a motorcycle carrier on the back of the car, is that Ecohitch by its design also gets a significantly higher tongue weight than any of the competition. All the other ones I have looked at only support 350 lbs. tongue weight, while Ecohitch supports 525 lbs. tongue weight. Honestly, even if I'm not going to go up to that weight, I like the confidence that the overbuilding will give me on the hitch strength. I don't know if I'll actually put a motorbike carrier on there, but I know that I will very often put my 6-bike mountain bike rack on there fully loaded, which is approaching the 350 lbs. regular limit, and it's nice to know that you are not constantly riding the edge of the rated tongue weight.

Anyway, we got a bit off on a tangent from the original topic... due to concerns that I might be waiting 3-4 years to get a Sienna from my local dealership, we ended up putting another deposit down with an Alberta dealership that does very high volume sales where the salesperson was talking about a 1-2 year wait instead... I don't know if he was just being optimistic to get my deposit or what, but I figured we should at least hedge our bets a little bit by putting a second deposit down with someone else. All the BC dealerships I talked to had waitlists indicating 3-4 year waits or weren't even taking deposits anymore.
I'd be a little hesitant on that tongue weight. I feel like it should be the vehicle side that sets the tongue weight based on suspension and not about tow hitch strength.

I moved down just one spot in 4 months. Looking to do see if February adds any movemeny, if not, I'm switching to Honda Minivan or Palisade.
Hope you already put an order on these. Hyundai is currently not taking orders on the Palisade (I know because I have 2 orders, in July and August 2022, and still have no VIN or ETA yet), I hear orders will open in March/April and is for 2024MY with delivery for early orders somewhere in October/Nov. Honda is also constrained on the odyssey but it should be much quicker TAT from order to delivery, not 5 years we are hearing for the Sienna (at this rate, dealers should not be asking for deposit as it is too far out)

Our 25AE is 2 weeks behind schedule... so far, haha. Mid Feb is the expected arrival, which works out to 17 months total waiting. The salesman also asked us identify any accessories we'd like and we added the rear cargo mat and protective side trim. Decided to pass on adding a hitch given the stories of the rear collision sensor when using a large bike carrier. As a bonus, the savings soothed my dismay at the price of PPF installation. I've installed a few Suntek precut kits, but that front bumper is too intimidating for this amateur! I still have to line up winter wheels and tires - I'm just pessimistic enough to wait until I'm 100% certain on the delivery date before buying them.

Fortunately, despite reaching 360k km, our 2009 Sienna has been issue-free in the meantime. I have some fluid changes to do in the spring, but I honestly like that vehicle so much, that I enjoy doing maintenance on it. The funny thing is that with how well designed our old van is, I had bought a new Tundra a few years ago expecting the same sort of ethos, but the longer I compared it to the van, the more annoyed I became at it not measuring up, so it was a victim of the Sienna's success, haha.
I hear you. My 2004 Sienna is very robust engine wise, at just shy of 200K km . The only issue I have is the undercarriage and door lower fenders are heavily rusted from our bad salty Ottawa wintery roads, so its roadworthiness in the near fufure is in question. But maintenance costs has been very low, between $300 -$500 per year average, pretty good for a 19 year old car. Too bad Toyota do not build their cars like this anymore.

Palisade would be a used 2021 version (will pay a little premium but not as bad as the mark-ups on used 2021 and above (Sienna). I heard the same with 2023 (no orders are being considered).

If you're open to 3-row SUV, consider putting a deposit on the new Mazda CX-90. It'll have inline-6 and PHEV versions. Full details are about to be announced in a few days. I had a deposit on one last month. At that time, I was literally the first person to put a deposit on one at that dealership, and would have received one in their first batch arriving around April.

What's the pricing for the CX90? Also, will it be bigger versus the CX9? I have a friend that owns that and I wasnt impressed with the third row passenger seating.

You're right, I rechecked my texts and it's $69K... What a joke...

Did you have any luck moving up the queue? I was thinking about asking for my monthly update, but not sure my heart can take the disappointment.

Edit: Just noticed that XLE is still on the Erin Park website. Wonder how long they'll hold on to it before they drop the price. Even among overpriced used Sienna's, the pricing on this one is truly outrageous.
I was also just there yesterday checking that one out. Pricing is insane! However, we may end up being one of those who really need a van right now and will have to pay the over the top pricing for a used one on their lot currently :( ..ugh hurts to even think about it

Please don’t do it. If you must have a van soon, go buy an Odyssey at MSRP, you’ll have enough money for all the gas you need. Or even lease a Chrysler for a few years, and just order what you really want. Don’t reward these dealerships for gouging.

What site is this that you can check your order status. Hate having to call/text them and getting some Bs replies.
this is what they told me.

Thank you for your continued patience while waiting for your vehicle to arrive.
At Orleans Toyota we believe we could be doing a better job communicating with our customers during such long wait times. Due to low staffing levels as a result of limited inventory and higher than normal demand we have found it exceedingly difficult to achieve the level of communication we know our customers deserve. To improve this communication, we have developed a portal on our website where our customers can check their vehicle order status from home.
We will be updating this portal on a weekly basis. For many of our customers who are waiting for Toyota Canada to match their order to a production vehicle the status may not change for many months. Once Toyota Canada matches the order you will be able to see the status change from Pending Fulfillment to Filled and then to In Transit as your vehicle makes its way to our dealership.
As soon as your vehicle order is matched to a production unit, I will be sending you an email to let you know. Shortly after my email, your product advisor will be reaching out to you to invite you back to the showroom to firm up the details of your order and provide an “ETA” estimated time of arrival. An ETA is a ballpark timeframe that is subject to change.

Honestly at the rate they going with Toyota I started looking at the odyessy this week. It’s a great looking ride and honestly I am still able to negotiate on the price and they even said they are willing to throw in winter mats and cargo mats no charge where as Toyota there is no deals or negotiations and they don’t throw in anything.

I heard only the top Touring trim is available. How much are you able to negotiate?
To be fair, Toyota does include winter mats for free for all models in Canada. Probably the only manufacturer to do that.

Would suggest if can wait then expect people to cancel and/or not accept their allocation over next several months.

Supply should be better just simply due to people getting other vehicles.

Couple of our friends decided to go Odyssey and SUV route over Sienna recently and got their deposits back.

You can get the touring or black edition. Which is really nice and pretty close to the limited model I wanted from Toyota.
I so far was able to get the rust, paint and leather protection for 500 bucks, free winter mats for all three rows, cargo mat, the deep cargo tray, the 3m wrap for the front hood and sides, side mirrors, and door cups for 200. Winter tires and rims and TPMS included in the price. No markups on the car and discount 300 on the extended warranty and 3 free oil changes. It is a black edition van also. So far this is making me very convinced to move to Honda.

Is the Odyssey ready for delivery or you have to wait ( what is the ETA)?

Guess this link only works specifically for Orleans Toyota and no other dealerships have this portal?

Called my dealership for an update. I moved up 2 spots on the LE AWD list since end of December, despite them not getting any this past month of that trim. Guess that's 2 cancellations. Now I just need 7 more ahead of me to give up... and for Toyota to actually delivery a few...

You don't need to wait for the touring or black edition odysseys. They'll be available in SOME dealership in the GTA. But ex and exl will have massive waiting, unfortunately they're the best value trims for Odyssey. Touring is basically a lot more frills like ventilated seats, etc.
