Called my dealership for an update. I moved up 2 spots on the LE AWD list since end of December, despite them not getting any this past month of that trim. Guess that's 2 cancellations. Now I just need 7 more ahead of me to give up... and for Toyota to actually delivery a few...
Hah!!

Wonder if any of those cancellations were my friends??

Hang in there.

Update. I had placed an order for an xse AWD tech Sienna back in may 22. Last week, my salesperson called me. She said she has a Highlander Hybrid coming in a couple of months. And the best part, NO EXTRA CHARGE!. when I asked how much I need to pay for It, she said I just need to open up toyota.ca and build and whatever comes up there that's what they will charge me. Really happy with the honesty, and I know who's my go to Toyota dealer from now, Ancaster Toyota! They could have easily charged a few thousand dollars extra on it , would've sold just as easily. And now I know how they operate, am sure they'll be fair with the Sienna order as well.

In this market, I doubt stuff like this often happens. I'll keep my order for the Sienna open till it comes and have my Highlander Hybrid meanwhile! I tried the third row, it's definitely not as comfortable as a Sienna, but is more than enough for kids. And in any case, 2 rows will be my standard drive mode.
they always say 'a couple months'. Hope you get it though. All dealerships can go suck it. I hope they all go broke.

Lol I feel you. This time I have exact dates, color, credit check and all that. Hope it's not all for nothing.

But yeah, the situation is really messed up..but with the internet rate rise and the overall economy, I doubt the crazy markups will last.

They offered you a Highlander and they let you keep the sienna order? That's nuts. One would think there is a wait list for the Highlander hybrid just like there is for the sienna. Great for you, sucks for whoever is waiting for a highlander.

Hope it all works out for you!

However, I just find this all a bit too sketchy and early to say this dealer is "Good". There are waitlists for both Siennas and Highlander hybrids.
The end scenario for the dealership is at the very least they get to sell a "used" highlander at a higher price vs selling it to their waitlisted customers.

On top of that, if they are willing to sell you the highlander hybrid instead of waitlisted highlander customers. How do you know they aren't/won't do the same with your incoming Sienna?

The only way this is "fair" is if the highlander is a customer cancellation and they went through and offered to everyone on their waitlist - then offered to the alternate vehicle waitlists. Otherwise, they are screwing someone over and in turn - how do you know they aren't/won't doing the same to you?

Again, hope it does work out for you.

It's total BS. The dealers don't even know what they will be receiving next month from Toyota until maybe 2 or 3 weeks before the month.

And then they play these stupid games where they move you around the list depending on if you have a good trade in or willing to pay over sticker.

I hope the interest rate rises hurt them. People all end up cancelling orders.

Their short sightedness is going to screw them for a generation. Young adults who are looking to buy their first car will end up passing, bc they can't even afford a used car. Then they will realize that they don't even need a car, they can just use Uber, etc.

Its nuts in 5 months I only moved one spot, and to think the dealership I went with was one of the largest dealers of Toyota vehicles. A really shitty experience. The odyssey is looking really good right now.
Lol. I signed the BOS in Oct 2021 and was told I was 4th in line, then at month 11 I was told I moved to 5th in line, then I complained and asked for an answer from the GM and he said I'm now 3rd in line the 3 days ago...
At least keep your story straight ..... Smh

What model did you book .I booked a XSE awd with Brimmel Toyota in Oct 2021.As per a previous sales manager I was number 1 on the wait list for my colour in May 2022 .Now since the last two months all my emails and phone calls are totally ignored by the dealership ,no reply at all .I do not know how Toyota is allowing there dealers to operate in such a way .They are only selling to whomsoever they want to .I think we should expose this black market racket going on .It feels we are living in a third world country with no laws to check this and Toyota is knowingly allowing this .

Just wondering how come there is nothing about this BS in social media.

Asked my dealer for an update today and my position remains unchanged from October to now. Hard to believe XLE trims are so hard to come by. Looking more seriously into a Honda minivan.
That’s crazy! Although just from observation, I have to say the XLE is by far the rarest time in the GTA. I see way more XSE, followed by LE. Limited are quite rare, but XLE even more so. Would you consider another trim?

Same here in Vancouver area.. I've seen maybe two XLEs around.. most common is LE and XSE, and then Limited.

We had originally wanted XLE, but dealership told us they had none on the horizon. Was offered an LE before we got our XSE.
