XLE AWD Taillight swap to Limited/Platinum 3 bar LED

Anybody swap out the taillights both inner and outer? I've obtained 3 out of the 4 pieces currently and looked to see that the wire bundle goes into the bottom quarter panel with a plastic snap piece that holds it into the frame of the vehicle. I can pull but I don't want to ruin the rear quarter panel by pulling too far to get the wire connectors pulled out to swap them. Switching the LEDs looks like there's a different number of cables between the XLE and the Limited light clusters so it doesn't look like it'll be a simple plug/unplug the cables in the back of the light. The Limited inner light has an extra 3LED cluster towards the center that isn't there in my XLE so i know that it will require replacing the entire taillight as well. I went to the dealership to pull numbers and apparently they're all the same between LE/XLE/XSE and Limited/Platinum. 3 different types all with the same exact number, just different prices. Obviously there's differences in the lights but i have no way to determine which piece to purchase to get the last piece I would need...the Inner passenger light... anybody know how many bolts/screws i need to pull in order to swap out the taillights?

Looks kind of lonely over here. I'd post this on the Gen 4 General Discussion so someone will see it.
Agreed, try posting in the main thread. I'm really curious on this as well. Did you buy the lights directly from Toyota?
Okay. Pulled the lights and swapped the outer lights on both sides. Works with a direct plug in. pain in the ass to get the wire to come out but eventually was able to unclip it and unplug it. new light plugs in and works with the 3 bars. inner light is a different story. have to remove the tailgate cover and then the trim piece along the outside edge which has a connecting cable which i assume is for a sensor? Anyways, the inner light has 2 wires coming from the cable cluster on the limited trim light and only 1 on the XLE. guess i need to figure out which wire i will need to splice in order to get the other light powered. and i need to find a inner right hand side light too. arg.

Can you post the part numbers and how much it cost you?
Part numbers are identical between the 3 main trims. only thing different is the pricing. I bought mine off of ebay since they show pictures of the product. You will need to find the ones with the oval shaped plastic pieces to the inside edge vs the non lighted version of the LE/XLE/XSE trims. Also make sure there is 2 wire plug thingies one for the reverse bulb which all of them have and the "3 Bar LED" models have a second plug pigtail that hangs out with 3 connecting wires. Looks like I originally picked up a Taiwan model inner light as it had 3 led bulbs on the inside light...maybe i'll plug it in at some point in time later. I have some pictures i took but i need to post those as i get time. I simply wired one of the license plate lights as the LED light since i changed my license plate bulbs to LED too. Got tired of trying to figure out how to run a wire from the outer lights into the inner lights.
Parts list number - for what it's worth...i pulled the "parts" from a local toyota dealership using a VIN off a limited trim model they had on their lot.

Bolts to remove circled in yellow. Starting with outer lights... I believe these were 10mm screws...

Went to otherside since i forgot to take pictures of the first side. Pull the light out and it will dangle as the connector is down below the circled trim piece.
CAUTION when pulling the trim piece, don't pull too far otherwise you might break screws or clips. Also there is a black plastic guide piece that is free spinning. spin it down to help hold the trim piece out and then remember to flip it back right side up when re-bolting everything down otherwise you will have a bad time...

Look for the plug it's down behind the trim piece. I got a retractable claw to grab the bottom of the plug as the top is what holds the entire plug in place with a plastic clip into the body.

there's 5 8mm screws and 2 clips for each side. i only got 1 screw in the shot, but it's for the black metal plate that goes up the entire side of the door. it's attached with a cable so you can't remove it.

car side only has 1 plug since i have an XLE. light has 2 plugs. original XLE light has 1 plug. 1 plug for both sets is for the reverse light. the upgraded model with 2 plugs has 1 plug for the led lights.

Rigged up the lights by splicing into the license plate light. LED bulb for license plate so lower amp draw so tying in 2 more LEDs shouldn't stress it.
one of the pics shows the camera location.
there's also a picture of the speaker "box" - 6 bolts holds that in.

Oh, do NOT lose these 2 pieces. washer type locking nuts? They are held in by friction, thanks Toyota...
the bolt that holds them in were 10mm silver bolts.

Price of the "used" in good condition lights was about 100 for each outer and 70 for each inner. total about 340 instead of the 760 that was quoted.
this link has the correct inner taillight piece but the price is 140$ which is almost the same price as OEM from Toyota assuming you get the correct part.
I ended up paying an extra 70 since i have one "extra" inner left with the 3 dot LEDs. I might install that and see if i can't find another right one to see how they look...

if anybody knows how to get a wire easily from the outer taillights to the inner taillights, please let me know as i just rigged mine to license plate lights for now...

thanks all
