My parents have a XLE and really want the premium taillights with the 3 bars after seeing our family’s Limited. So I just have to order these 4 part #s? No other parts, wires, etc? Is it all plug and play on a XLE? What is the difficulty level on a scale of 1-10? (I understand this is highly subjective)
I did it on my XLE: it’s not plug and play, the light assemblies fit exactly physically the same as the existing ones but you have to do some additional wiring to power the LED bars on the light assemblies on the hatch. I tied into the trailer hitch plug that’s located under the s-are tire area. Popping off the interior trim near the hatch is easy. Fishing the wires through to the hatch takes time. You do have to remove the trim on the hatch itself. If you’ve installed a car stereo with new wiring you should be able to do it, otherwise get help from someone with that type of experience…

So if i get the Taiwan spec, they still fit.. no modification besides running the wire?
Those Taiwan spec taillights look interesting… I really like the fog light concept (they are extra bright) but I’m not sure that taillight comes with the 3 led bar LED as well. That’s a deal breaker for me, esthetically, the 3 bar looks great as well as giving me the extra visibility I want…

That’s a very good point. I was under the impression that the 3 bar LED still in the Taiwan spec and they added on the “rear fog light” but apparently it doesn’t look like the 3 bar LED is there..

It doesn't look that bad at all..
Safety is my most concern so I think it works for me in this case.. the outer lights are nice to have ..

I agree, it's all about safety first and adding the hatch lights makes a big difference. You did the hardest part already with the extra wiring for the hatch. Now sell your old hatch lights and buy the side lights assemblies which are a straight swap plug ins. You'll be happy you did!
