Hi ,
I am new to this forum . This is the first time I am posting on the forum. I have a 2000 Toyota Sienna XLE minivan with a back fire problem. My mechanic says he has isolated the problem to the malfunctioning Electronic Control Module (ECM or computer). Now we want to get a cheap replacement from used parts as the vehicle is 15 years old a new replacement won't make any economic sense. Can anybody confirm whether a simple replacement of the ECM with another functioning one will solve the problem? I am not sure any re flashing etc is required to change in between vehicle . In other words can the ECM be changed just like other compatible parts. Thanks for your time.
