2001 Sienna with 134K miles. Properly maintained: transmission serviced, plugs, coolant and timing belt at 90K. Check engine light is on. According to the mechanic, the knock sensor and mass air-flow sensor need replaced. And there is a leak associated with the fuel filler tube.

On a trip through flat Ohio not going over 65, with both the front and rear a/c on, it got 22.5 mpg on 87 octane fuel.

Is this considered good for this vehicle, or are the sensors affecting the mileage?

That gas mileage isn't bad. It might be a good idea to replace that knock sensor, as it is involved in changing the valve timing (VVT), and could effect the gas mileage a little. Check out this site for cleaning of the MAF.

It's always helpful to post your P codes (check-engine light error codes).

If your lock sensor is bad make sure it’s not soiled with oil check your spark plugs and oil levels. It’s good to replace the pvc valve with genuine Toyota part it’s 15 dollars from dealer this will prevent it from breaking and consuming oil and fouling other components w oil. I have a 2001 w 145k not consuming oil but changed it anyways
