I have a 2004 Sienna with 123K Miles on it and I'm having some problems with it.
When you start the engine the ABS and BRAKE lights remain illuminated along with the CEL and the Tire pressure light blinking. When I start driving I will not get a speed reading(stays at 0) until about 10 seconds of driving or until the ABS & Brake lights go off( about 10 seconds after starting to drive) then I would get a reading. The TP light will not reset. I changed the VSS at the dealership but when I connect my OBDII scanner I still get code P0500(VSS) which is weird.Today the symptom showed an other thing. I got a speed reading but the ABS & Brake light remained on. how ever this stopped and went back to what I described before. Any help or thoughts??????

I STILL have the problem only thing different is that now the ABS, BRAKE light's stay lighted up ALL the time... dealship did not cooperate saying that they did it and I actually got insulted by the dealership for complaining to the toyota regional office. Check Engine light still shows P0500. I have a theory but have not been able to prove it. The dealership said the ABS Module was bad (without TESTING IT!!!). I think that maybe a Wheel Speed Sensor is bad, there fore tripping the TMPS System ( runs out of the WSS). I'm trying to get someone to connect a ABS Scanner to my van to see if there is a code of any of the wheel sensors. We just got new tires for the van and cleaned the Front WSS but it did not have any effect. If someone has had this problem please tell me what did you do to diagnose/fix it.

Thanks!!!

SOLVED: FIXED: There is a really cheap easy fix to this. I am posting this so late because it seems to be an ongoing issue that I just dealt with. Dealer couldn't figure it out and wanted to charge me $125 hr to call Toyota and run advanced diagnostics.... I found this company that rebuilds ABS computer modules that have known issues.(Toyota wants to sell you the whole abs unit for $2k.) The Sienna is one of them. The module simply unbolts from the ABS block with 4 hex head bolts. Took me 30 minutes and $200 later everything works great. Here is the link, they will even let you return it if it doesn't fix the problem for a 10% restock fee. they also sell on ebay.

FYI FOLKS:

I clicked on that link and found a site that seems to be defunct. The link itself is 404, so I went to the home page. They list NO models of Toyota. There's no drop-down list of models to select, and if you type in Sienna, you get nowhere.

Just to be sure, I checked other makes, and even if they list a model, you eventually get to a dead end. Looks like they are kaput. :(
