2007 LE: One actuator or two? One power door or two?

I recently acquired a 2007 Sienna LE with less than 90k miles, and I love it. When we purchased it, we obtained an agreement from the dealer he'd repair whatever was keeping the passenger side sliding door from opening with either the interior/exterior door handle trigger, or with the remote, pillar, and console buttons. He found a replacement part (non-OEM, I think) for the motor inside the actuator rather than a more expensive replacement actuator.

In the meantime, I have the actuator sitting in my glove box. I think they removed it so the door was manually operable, but I don't recall for sure...

Once I found the lower console switch to enable the power-sliding functionality, it's only the interior/exterior handle trigger that functions. Pushing the button on the overhead console, the pillar, or on the remote doesn't open the door. But we do hear something trying to do something in the door when we push the console or remote button for the door.

I've read that the Sienna uses two separate actuators to operate the power sliding doors - one that operates when triggered from the handle, and another that operates from the console, pillar, or remote button. This sounds absurd (or at least motivated by marketing, rather than engineering/design), but regardless, I haven't been able to confirm this. Can someone clarify this for me? Is there really two separate actuators for each power door? One for the buttons and one for the handle?

The other issue is that my wife recalls that they took an actuator (the actuator?) out of the driver-side sliding door and put it in the passenger side door so that door would operate with the handle. I'm not recalling this, but my memory is not reliable... My understanding is that - for the 2007 LE trim, at least - only the passenger-side door is powered in any way... That is, the driver-side door isn't opened by a button or by a yank on the handle - you have to manually slide the door open and shut. I haven't been able to verify this anywhere... Anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance, folks!

I also have a 2007 LE.

My driver’s side sliding door AND passenger side sliding door are both powered. There are left and right buttons on the overhead console, a button on the left and right pillars, and left and right buttons on the Key FOB.

I had to replace the actuator motor on both the driver’s side and passenger side sliding doors. The symptom for that repair is that the sliding doors won’t open with any of the buttons but if you give the handle a little tug (on the outside) or push (from the inside) it will open. That indicates that the actuator motor has failed and needs replaced.

I only replaced one actuator motor on each side. I am not aware of there being two motors on each door.

The actuator motor failing is a very common problem.

You need to be aware that another very common problem is the sliding door cables snapping. It’s a different problem than the actuator motor but if yours haven’t been replaced it’s only a matter of time.
