Does anybody know where the outside ambient air sensor location is? I have a 2013 Sienna LE and it’s my understanding that it is located somewhere in the front grill area but wanted an idea as to where exactly it was located and if possible how to get to it to replace it. The sensor is no longer working and wanted to see if I could replace it myself rather than having to take it to the dealership.

A Sienna diagram on toyodiy.com shows the approximate location of the ambient temperature sensor in the front bumper area towards the driver side but these diagrams often aren't exact.

I've never looked on our 2014 Sienna but on other Toyota/Lexus we've owned, the ambient temperature sensor was located in the lower grill area and attached to the bottom of the front bumper beam towards the passenger side. I suspect that the sensor could be accessed after removing the underbody panel just rearward of the front bumper cover as if you were installing a set of front fog lights. This panel is very easy to remove as I found when I removed it to wire up a rear fog light although I had to raise the front of the van and put it on jack stands.

OK, I spent a few seconds tonight locating the ambient temperature sensor on my 2014 Sienna. Look through the lower grill mesh at the vehicle center and you should see it attached to a vertical metal support.

I wouldn't blindly buy a new sensor without inspecting the current one. Perhaps the contacts in the connector are corroded. There may be a procedure for testing this sensor and for trouble-shooting the outside temperature display system. The problem might not be with the sensor.

Bought a 2012 LE AWD, and the display for the ambient temperature does not show up on the display. Ordered and after market part but it doesn't match. I mean it looks like the receptor for the sensor is in place attached to the cross member in front of the rad, but the sensor it self is not there. I guess it was not installed?? Did some research looking for the part but no luck. All the ambient sensors I can find are for other years other than 2012.
Does anyone have the part number?
Thanks

This is the after market sensor I have now.

This the after market sensor I ended up getting. In the pic see what is attached to the vertical support. Wires attached.
In the first pic see the 2 sensors. The new one looks like it plugs into something, the one attached, looks like something plugs into it. Both have similar plug in receptors.
Maybe I am not getting what is going on. ???
Any help would be appreciated

I never did get this ambient temperature sensor working. Would anybody know if the parts for other Sienna models, that have the ambient temperature sensor, could be used.
For example, if I were to order parts for a different year or model of Sienna that had the ambient temperature sensor. Would it work?
Many thanks
