2016 Sienna LE tow package?

We would like to add a hitch to tow a camper (3,000 lb empty-less than 3500 lb packed). We found several brochures that state the tow prep package comes standard on all 2016 Sienna models. However, our dealership looked up our vehicle specifications from our VIN number and said it didn't look like we had the prep package. We called Toyota directly and they stated that the tow prep package is standard. We are confused and do not want to tow if it will potentially cause issues with the vehicle but it sounds like it should be fine. Any thoughts? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!!!

The main element of the tow prep package is an engine oil to water heat exchanger located just under the front exhaust manifold. It looks slightly different and is a bit harder to see on the Gen-III vans, but this is a composite I put together a few years ago based on a Gen-II van. If you have this accessory, you have the most important component.

Looks like Photobucket no longer allows imaging linking and this site won't allow me to attach a thumbnail right now. I'll try again later.

The same engine is used, so the basic layout under the hood is pretty similar. But while you could easily see the top rim of the exchange unit just by looking down behind the radiator fan, you might need the aid of a flashlight and mirror. One day when I have a moment I should update this slide with pix from my new van.

I'd suggest finding a motor-head friend to help you look for this hardware under the hood.

Good luck with your new van and trailer!
