My wife and I are diving into the min-Van world with our third child on the way this year. We’ve decided the sienna is what we’d like. I was hoping to get input on a couple options because this market is just crazy.

Option 1:
2022 Woodland trim
Cement color
Entertainment package
Selling price from dealer is 50,xxx (2k mark up) with a mandatory 2k dealer warranty so roughly 52,200
Could have it as soon as end of March

Option 2:
2021 Platinum trim
AWD, 6,000 miles
Entertainment package
Has pretty much all the options like the digital rear view camera, etc
Price 54,900
Could be purchased right away

I’m guess I’m just looking for any other perspectives in picking the best deal.

yeah I think what I’m trying to work through is that the new is essentially coming with a 4K mark upwith a low ball offer for a trade in.Most of the options of the platinum can’t be added to woodland, the other side is we knowit can drive the used one home as with the new one it could be delayed, would need to come to agreement with the trade in still, etc.

That’s by far the cheapest low mileage used platinum I’ve found so far.

The most important factor for you is time. Having a 3rd kid on the way, the most important thing is that you actually have a van when the kid is born. A kid may be born earlier than you expect too. Dealers will bs you with a build date. I wouldn't trust them at all. Most buyers here have been waiting for 6+ months with still no eta.

Get the Platinum. You're going to be thanking yourself that you actually have a van when your kid arrives. Not to mention the extra features. And that gloss grey colour is so ugly. No idea why it's so popular.

Btw, congrats on the 3rd kid.

How long until the baby comes? We started shopping as soon as we were expecting our 3rd. Decided the XLE was worth the $6k savings over the platinum (sometimes question that considering the features the XLE is missing that our other car has). Maybe you can shop around for one at MSRP that should arrive in time?

I agree that it all comes down to personal preference. I originally wanted the woodlands and ended up with an XSE due to availability and up charging in my area for the woodlands at many dealers. I wish they all just had the extra clearance. I wouldn’t have minded having the hitch either. I personally do like the cement color as well. I definitely prefer the interior color of the woodlands over the interior of my XSE. That was something that I compromised on for sure.

I thought the interior color of the woodlands was unique to the model. All of the AWD XSE available in my area have the moonstone gray interior, which is lighter than the woodlands interior. The woodlands that I tried to buy had a gray flannel interior I believe. Perhaps it was just what was available near me though.
Edit: I did look on the build your own Toyota area and it looks like it is available that way for the XSE. Must just not have been any near me with the configuration at the time I was looking and I assumed it wasn’t available.
