Ok folks, here is the final follow up on the key fob issue. Toyota Corporate called Friday stating a new key fob will be on it's way and should be there by Tuesday. Today (Saturday), my local dealership called and advised the key fob was in and to come in and get it programmed. This happened today and now am the owner of two key fobs. This should have happened at the beginning of the year, but it is what it is. During the course of conversation with Toyota Corporate Friday, the issue was the initial key fob sent in December was specifically assigned to my vehicle's VIN. The dealership "had" to wait until that specific fob came in, which it never did. The dealership made no attempt to get another key fob until Toyota Corporate got involved. Toyota Corporate also stated if I had not contacted them about the issue, I would still be waiting for the second key fob due to the way the program is set up. BTW, Toyota Corporate stated there are plenty of key fobs available and I believe them. Either the second key fob was overnighted to the local dealership, or the dealership had it already in inventory. Bottom line is unfortunately, Toyota is not out to make sure the customer is taken care, but to make sure protocol is followed. Also of note, I found out there are others in the exact same boat as I was - key fob ordered, but "lost in the mail" and still waiting. Hope they are taken care of.

I received a letter from Toyota today about the second key fob I am entitled to for My April 2023 purchase. Finally, I've been waiting for this letter! Only took over three months for me to receive it after I got a notice on my Toyota App at the beginning of December. Way to coordinate these notices! Well, at least they sent one!

I'm looking at a 2024, and sure enough, it only ships with one fob. Really, Toyota, you want to play games with customers spending upwards of $50K? Have any 2024 customers gotten their second one? How do you start the car with the key insert?

Finally got the 2nd keyfob service campaign notification in the mobile app. Keyfob alert came on June 13th (Vehicle delivery date - Jan 13th) exactly 5 months after delivery. Scheduled an appt with the near by dealer next week for programming and pickup. It's time to search for the 2nd physical key which the dealer gave me during delivery in the garage.

It's really irresponsible of Toyota to only give one key fob. Their narrative is a shortage of chips. These cars are full of chips. I wonder if they are trying to push customers to buy their $85/year phone connect that allows opening the car with a phone?

That would be dastardly. They aren't getting my purchase until they ship with two fobs.

Please don’t get your hopes up for immediate delivery of the 2nd key fob based on the app notification. It still took over a month after the notice for the key fob to come in.

I just think Toyota is full of shit. The semiconductor shortage is long over. Just look at PC and Smartphone market and how low these products are priced these days. I believe someone in Toyota screwed up big time and they just tried to cover it up. I basically said this will be my last Toyota after 3 decades. The company is definitely not the same as before!

The semiconductor shortage is totally not over. We're kind of in the middle of a trade war and this creates supply chain disruptions.
