Howdy folks!

I will be picking up a new 2014 Sienna L tomorrow and would like some input for some things I'd like to add.

My current ’04 Sienna XLE has 260K miles on it and its time for a new one. While I like the options of my current XLE, a new one was not in my budget. I found this Sienna L and I got a great deal on it so I can’t complain but it is lacking some stuff I will miss – if not downright need.

I have four kids and they make a huge mess back there so I was gonna get some seat covers and floor covers. I will need some media entertainment so I want to install a DVD system in it too. I also need a roof rack.

So here is what I would like input on:

1) Good quality seat covers, material is fine –but I DO NOT want something I will sweat in.

2) Good Quality floor liners. Husky Weatherbeater or WeatherTech?

3) DVD installation. I am quite handy and can figure things out and can follow directions. I hate the tiny screens and the dual screens. I would like to have ear phone jacks available at each seat as well as hardwire input into the car stereo (no radio transmitters please). I need input on DVD player, DVD location, screen make, model, and mounting, and a power supply for all.

4) Finally, this van does NOT have a roof rack which I will need. I have a Thule luggage carrier and will be carrying skis in the winter. My options are to install an aftermarket one – (which I fear will look rather cheesy and or be unstable) or get an OEM one. The stealership wants over $1000 for just the parts alone – (not including the cross rails) so advice is needed. I’m open to input.
I believe that all Sienna’s now come standard with the roof reinforcements and the welded nuts for attaching the roof side rails (confirmation needed),
My preference would be to get used OEM from a junk yard but can anyone offer advice as to where to get a used set of side rails and the best way to mount them? Does the head liner have to be removed?

Thanks very much in advance for your input.

My suggestion is to back out of this deal and purchase a slightly used 2011+ LE or XLE that already has the features you want to add.

I did some research and have decided to move the rack over from my 2004 Sienna to my 2013 Sienna. It seems that the factory "supports" for the rack are actually pretty flimsy and really not supports as much as they are anchor points so I figure that I can make plates for the underside that I can use as anchor points. Furthermore, the rear supports are NOT already in place as some have suggested and have to be purchased separately. I have already began by removing the rack from the 2004, disassembling it and painting it.

The older side rails are longer than the current model and the roof of the newer Sienna is narrower than the older Sienna. So - there are a few tweaks to do but totally do-able. I will leave the length the same and shorten the cross bars about 3" but other then than I am confident that it will work.

I'll post pics later.
