AM/FM reception issue 2013 XLE

A few days ago the radio reception in our 2013 xle went out. It was intermittent at first and then nothing. Seemed like maybe a loose antenna, but that wasn't it. We have the navigation and entune, so not sure how the antenna ties into that. Bluetooth and everything else works fine, just am/fm reception. Nothing but static.

Since then the reception goes in and out randomly. Good reception for 5 min or so and then it goes out again..static..all channels. Sometimes when it goes out, one of the stations located close by can be faintly heard.

Took the antenna off and it is bent slightly at the post...almost certainly from the car wash.....but it's bent, not cracked or broken in any way. Didn't seem like that would affect reception, but I don't know.

Anyone else experienced this?

Any ideas?

I think you're on the right track. The navigation system and SiriusXM have their own antenna. The radio reception is tied to the external antenna. What happens if you hold the antenna tightly in place when the radio is on? Does it improve the reception? I'm not sure if you can see the wires leading from the radio to the antenna, but I would check to make sure that connection is tight.

You can always replace the antenna. Check Amazon and EBay. People are buying the shorter, black stubby antenna and not seeing a difference in reception. Do a search on this forum.

Good luck.

Yeah. That's what I was thinking so I ordered a new antenna a few days ago and put it on today. Same problem, no change. Funny thing is, we can get one station, the one located only a few miles away. Any stations farther than that, just static.

Back to start. Hoping to have time to try and locate the wire harness running from the antenna to radio tomorrow
