Yesterday my 16 year old put the ebrake on and husband didn't notice 😳😒 They then both proceeded to drive with it on and the van started making a rattling/tapping noise when you start it. I honestly don't know why the ebrake could cause thia sound so I am sure it's probably something else, but thought I would mention it anyway. Does anyone have any idea what it might be? I can't attach the video, but I will try to post it in the comments. Thanks in advance.

I'm surprised the car allowed you to drive with e brake engaged? When I've done this by accident the dash display lights up telling you to release e-brake before you can go.
I don't know if this is normal. I think the e-brake should release automatically as soon as you step on the accelerator in the DRIVE mode. I would ask the dealership.
UPDATE: Mr. Sparkollz's parking brake releases automatically when I shift into D from P, even before pressing the gas pedal.

My e-brake engages automatically when I go to Park and disengages automatically when I leave Park. Is it really the e-brake, or the stop and go traffic function? Even that resets with a Ready/Not Ready cycle.
