Hi ya’ll! Been a minute since jumping on here (mainly due to van running great!) but I have found this form so useful and learning tons so I’m reaching back out for help about replacing my CV shaft.

I’m getting up there in km, (yes I’m Canadian!) 407,828km, but after some slight grinding sounds from the front passenger side I thought it was my wheel bearing but the mechanic gave me a quote for CV axle shaft replacement. I feel like this is something I can do, I have already replaced the rack and pinion, LCA, sway bar links, shocks and strut assembly.

My question is what parts to order, can I just get the CV shaft assembly (part #4341008030) or do I need to add on bearings and or brackets too when I replace it?

Any info is appreciated ordering parts today!

If the carrier bearing isn't seized and the trans seals are good, pull out the old one, pop in the new one, and return to driving. In my case, it took 8+ hours of my frustration, a tow truck to my mechanic and a cutting torch to liquify the bearing bracket. A new Toyota bracket and half-shaft from Advanced Auto Parts (only one in-stock anywhere) and I was back driving. After about 12k miles, the telltale 43-48 mph vibration popped up again. If I ever do it again, it'll be Toyota-brand, if at all possible.
