Factory Alarm Hood Latch switch?

Hey guys. I've been researching on how to activate the factory alarm thru Toyotas Techstream software and I was able to get the alarm activated...kind of. I was able to activate the alarm in Techstream but when I tried to arm the van it wouldn't work. The van kept showing me a warning that my hood was open, but it was closed shut. I looked around some more and found out that the alarm won't arm if it thinks the hood is open and ways to fix that involve a hood latch with a switch attached to it. Supposedly factory toyotas that come off the lot with factory alarm have a hood latch with wires coming off it and a harness at the end. My hood latch does not have that. Can anyone here verify this? Would someone pleeeeaaase be kind enuf as to check around the locking latch area of the front hood to see if there is a wire coming off of it other than the metal wire that pulls the latch to pop the hood open?

I created a DIY video on installing this latch and included a full tutorial on TIS Techstream software. Lots of settings that you can change in TIS.

Replacement latch can be found on eBay (both OEM and aftermarket).

Installed OEM latch from an XLE/Limited. Simple three screw install. Activated the alarm in “Other Options” on Techstream.

Latches are exactly same except for the microswitch and harness. If they sold the switch/harness then it would bolt onto OEM latch.

The dealership has 2 types of those hood latches for the sienna. One with the wiring harness attached, and one without. The dealer might ask you for your VIN to make sure you get the right one, but you dont want to get "the right one". You want the one WITH the wiring harness in order to get your factory alarm to work. I believe its called a "security option" or something, I cant remember. But I bought it, installed it, and activated the factory alarm in techstream, and everything works!
