New to Hybrids - sound question

First of all… Im new to hybrids…

before I take my 2022 sienna XLE into the dealer with my concerns, I wanna bounce it off y’all to see if this is “normal”

when I turn on the van the engine kicks on after a minute or two… I know the engine is “noisy”on these things - but mine sounds pretty loud… and it vibrates to the point where I can sometimes feel it in my feet in the floor board… as I drive it gets quieter… i guess I just didn’t expect so much engine noise.

was that many of y’all’s first impression too coming from a V6? I can get used to it if that’s how it’s supposed to be… just seems like a loud / odd sound for a $50k van.

also… while the engine is running - is the clicking clack sound normal? Almost sounds like valve train noise on an old engine… but of course these are brand new engines… i didn’t expect that much noise either…

I didn’t test drive any other siennas so I have nothing to compare it to. My old V6 never made noises like this… and if it’s something I just need to get used to let me know. :)

And damn you sure hear the wind noise in these things over 70… don’t you? Didn’t expect that in a $50k van…

let me know. TIA.

Unlike a non-hybrid which starts and idles at 700-800 RPM, the Sienna starts for its warmup cycle and runs at 1300 RPM which would cause a bit louder idle. Also, the idle speed for this engine is about 1000 RPM once warmed up. I do not notice any vibration on mine when the car is not moving.

There are a number of threads here about wind noise. I do not notice any abnormal wind noise at highway speeds.

My engine is pretty quiet unless i'm really stepping on it, and then it's just the normal 4 cyclinder whine struggling. I do notice it in the garage when it starts, but I think that's more just because of the echo in my ceilingless garage. There is a slight vibration when it first starts, but I rarely notice when it starts on the road unless I've got the power distribution screen up on the center screen.
