So, I showed this problem to my service technician and we determined that it usually/always happens when using the outside door handle rapidly. The faster you use the handle, the more likely you'll get bigger pops or even groans and failures. For example, if I grab my handle and give it a quick tug and let it snap back, I'm almost guaranteed at least a small pop from the back of the door.
The techs said the doors have been completely redesigned for 2011, so this isn't the same problem the 2nd generation vans have. They looked at it and said that there doesn't seem to be a solution to the problem other than to use the door handle more slowly/gently. That's something my family and I can do, but if this were a van in use by strangers such as a taxi or limo, or even someone who gave lots of people rides, this could develop into a serious issue.
If your door fails to power open all the way, you need to turn the van off and on again to reset it before the power door will be powered.
