I happened to have a copy of some useful stuff ( Sienna_Key_Fob_Programming_Detailed_Guide).
I do not remember where I made a copy from – from one of Sienna forums.
Also, I remember it was tested many times and it does work for Sienna 2004+.

File is attached.

I've seen other sites with similar instructions, but either they didn't have the numbering (even though they referred to step numbers) or it wasn't clear that they would work for a 2004 Sienna.
Looking for this data is what got me looking for SiennaClub... and thus finding this site.
Thanks for posting these instructions.

My thanks also! It took 3-4 attempts, but my wife and 12yr-old son got our spare fob programmed in on the car. He was pretty excited when they got it to work.

(it is a convoluted process, which is why it took them a few attempts to get the sequence just right.)

I don't think it would be that easy to steal. Today's transponder keys and electronically controlled engines make it a little more challenging. Just wait till you have to replace a lost ignition key to see all the hoops you have to jump through not to mention the cost.

You may have to "initialize" the power doors/hatch and windows after either disconnecting the car battery and/or any customization programming has been performed. Just cycle through an open/close sequence "manually" and then things should be performing as expected.

This guide seems doesn't seem to apply to the 2011 models. I tried running the confirmation mode command 3 times and could not get it to work. Does anyone know how to program remotes on a 2011 Sienna?
If you cannot get your sienna to go into programming mode, make absolutely sure that in the step where you turn the key to ON position, you are turning the key two (2) notches, past ACC to ON. I have a 2009 and for the life of me, could not get the car to go into programming mode. I kept searching and finally found a set of instructions, which were identical except that in the key turn step, it said turn to ON, without starting the engine. Using ON instead of ACC triggered the remote programming mode.

Guess what? We just bought a 2011 Sienna. After all the signing, the salesman hands me a FOB, and says, "We only got one FOB with that car, but here's another, with the same FCC numbers. It should work, if you re-program it."

Don't suppose he bought that FOB on ebay for $20 bucks, just to lure me into paying to get it programmed? You'd think he'd know if the means available to a buyer, for older cars, are lost on 2011 and newer rigs.

Or maybe just swapped the 'second' FOBs between two used Siennas, so both buyers would have to pay for programming!

Does the "Valet" key we were given work equally well in reprogramming keyless entry FOBs? Hmmm....

So has anyone figured out how to program the 11-12 sienna remote?
Yes! Unfortunately I was not able to do it "manually", using only the instructions given in the original post. I get the impression that the manual procedure works up to 2010 but not for 2011 and later. But I still wanted to do it myself, so I broke down and bought a mini-VCI cable and techstream software (it is as cheap as $20 shipped from aliexpress.com). It took some effort to figure out the software but I was eventually able to connect my laptop to my 2011 sienna using the mini-VCI cable and program a couple of used remotes I had picked up on ebay.

In case anyone goes this route, a couple of pointers:

  • The techstream software that comes with the cable requires a 32-bit operating system like XP. If you are running a 64-bit version of windows 7 (like me), you will need to first install a 32-bit virtual machine (I used microsoft "XP mode"), and then install the techstream software on the virtual machine.
  • If you do use XP mode, after connecting the cable to the USB port of the laptop you must transfer the USB connection from the main OS to the virtual OS by a pull-down tab from the top of the XP mode window (something like "attach mini-VCI").
  • Buried inside the techstream software is a wizard to step you through the process of programming the remote, I don't remember where it was exactly but I had to dig around for it. I think it might be something like "main body > utilities > wireless registration" or something similarly non-informative.

Ok, I have tried these instructions a million times on my 05 XLE and they just do NOT work! After going through the process, the van never enters programming mode. I am positive I am following the instructions properly. Yes, I am going past ACC to the ON position but that isn't helping at all.

I guess I'll bring it into the dealer. I really hope they don't want to charge me a fortune for what should be a simple thing!

Need a spare set of a remote and key......

Thinking of buying this one : http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2010-T...otors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model:Sienna&hash=item4613db45a2&vxp=mtr

And this key blank: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-03-10-g...odel:Sienna|Submodel:LE|Engine+-+Liter_Display:3.5L&hash=item565b3be121&vxp=mtr

Where can I get the blank cut at?
I am "handy" and decent with electrical/electronics can I program the key myself if I get it cut somewhere? Sounds like the fob I can do based on the posted instructions.

Thanks for any help.

The 4D-67 is the correct blank with RFID chip. You can get it cut to match your existing key at any hardware store (my True Value charged me $2), but then you have to program the security system to accept the chip's code.

I had no problems at all getting the security system to accept the key. I need to take another run at getting the remote fob to work.
