The Thule Motion XT XXL arrived last week and I used it for the first time this week for a float trip in southern Missouri. I was impressed by the size, it was much bigger than I thought it would be and I probably could have gone with the XL. Lots of room, I had 4 camp chairs and several small packs of gear plus miscellaneous bags, etc. A small step ladder is a big help for attaching and securing it. I am 6'0'' and my wife is 5'9" and we found we didn't need a step ladder to make use of the box during our trip. The rear gate was able to go up all the way but just barely.

Hi Everyone,

Great information on this, thank you for the photos this is a great help!

We just bought a 2022 Limited up here in Canada, it should arrive in February (but I am not holding my breath!)

I just had a silly question, how does the Box actually attach to the cross bars? Do I have to buy a separate adapter?

We also have a 2009 Santa Fe, and I am wondering would the Box also fit the Santa Fe?

Thank you!

It attached to the crossbars. It takes two people to lift it on to the roof and then probably less than five minutes to install.

I had a hard time finding a Thule Motion XT XL in stock anywhere, but eventually found it at accessories.gmc.com with a 25% off coupon. I had to pick it up at a Seattle-area dealer.

Here's how to get this:
1. Go to accessories.gmc.com.
2. It'll ask you to enter a VIN or pick a model. Enter 2019, Acadia, SLE, 4WD, 2.5L. It might show up for other vehicles, but this one works for me.
3. Add to cart, then check out.
4. On the Delivery Options & Discounts page, enter the GET25 coupon for 25% off.

That's amazing. If the Motion XT XL shows up again I might have to finally pull the trigger.

I have a Thule Force XL (not the newer Force XT model) that I used for years on my Subaru Forester. I installed it on my 2022 Sienna XSE and it just fits in the forward-most position, however when I go over 105 km/h (65 mph), the front of the cargo box starts slamming up and down loudly. I presume this is due to the aerodynamics of the Sienna and the large overhang from the front cross bar, because I never had this issue on my Forester. I’m considering upgrading to Motion XT or Force XT, but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this issue before I spend the money. I wonder if the Motion XT or Force XT is more rigid than the older Force model and that is why others are not experiencing this on their Sienna.

i just installed the motion XT xl on my sienna over the weekend….. haven’t done any highway speeds yet…. Manual from Thule states not to speed over 80 mph with this thing installed …. Let’s see how it goes….. I don’t plan on going that fast since ( for me at least - defeats the whole purpose of buying this hybrid ) I hate spending lots of money on fuel. And also - let’s see how noisy this thing gets at highway speeds…..
