Jacisme…do you adjust the airbags a lot depending on weight load? I’m looking at airbags to prevent the rear sag but I don’t want to much added hassle.SO MUCH BETTER. But specifically because I carry so much weight in the back. If you weren't carrying lots of weight you wouldn't probably notice much difference with the airbags in. You would however notice a big difference with the lift kit, regardless of whether or not you also do airbags.
can’t seem to find a good answer on what kind of scissor jack to get. I see some people use like a square piece of wood to help lift it.Jacisme…do you adjust the airbags a lot depending on weight load? I’m looking at airbags to prevent the rear sag but I don’t want to much added hassle.
We chatted previously in DM but just including here for the record…. My weight load doesn't change by much, so IDK how much adjustment is necessary. The installer installed them and set it to the recommended PSI while my vehicle was empty. I added all my weight and checked the PSI and it was still the same. A friend that also has airbags and a lot of weight (but not in a minivan) told me that he checks them and adjusts in the summer and the winter, in case the temperatures affected them.Jacisme…do you adjust the airbags a lot depending on weight load? I ran into my first issue with the lift kit. Starting to get some clunking sound going over rough pavement.
Sounded similar to when a ball joint failed in my other car. Ended up that the sway bar end links were bone dry.
It's been about 15k miles since I installed the lift kit (9 months ago). My fault for not checking those sooner.
Once greased up it sounded a lot better, but still making some noise so they'll likely need to be replaced in the near future.
MOOG recommends greasing annually or every oil change. With the way I use the car, I should have probably been doing a 5k interval.
Anyhow, hope this helps someone out.
Ask/search around in the Gen3 and Gen2 threads. Plenty of people have had theirs lifted for years now. They can probably give you pretty good feedback of long term effects.
I've had mine for about a year and go off-road every couple months. I had to pick up a set of new sway bar end links because they're making a bunch of noise. I thought the joints were sealed like stock, so I didn't bother to grease them, so mostly just bad maintenance on my part. It was $50 in parts and the newer version look a little beefier than the same part that came with the kit. Beyond that no issues yet.
Do you get any wind noise from the Malone Airflow2’s? Thinking about removing my OEM bars and getting these so I have enough space for surfboards and a roof box.65" Malone Airflow 2. Good solid aluminum aero bars (165lb rating) comes with bases and locks at a fraction of the cost of Yakima/Thule. I'm happy with them. View attachment 54775 View attachment 54776
Any idea on a part number for the sway bar links for the 3" lift? Mine went bad tooAsk/search around in the Gen3 and Gen2 threads. Plenty of people have had theirs lifted for years now. Yes no issues....I had the lines combined and fed into the truck where the battery is.You can put the air bags on the Gen4 AWD? Thanks!!
That's good news... When you go to buy them it says for FWD ONLY. Do you know why they say that and how you worked around this requirement? Thanks so much!Yes no issues....I had the lines combined and fed into the truck where the battery is.
I just purchased a used 2021 Sienna and am looking at this same lift kit. Now that you've had it on your van for a bit, what are your thoughts on it 2 years in? Performance, feel, gas mileage?i just had it installed. Love it. View attachment 50253
I've had no issues. Regarding performance and feel I can't tell the difference EXCEPT that the trailer hitch never hits the ground and I can now drive over snow banks w/o tearing off all the plastic underneath the vehicle. I never checked the gas mileage. I also have a Thule box and either one or two bike racks on top so my gas mileage will likely be degraded. BUT I'm still always shocked at how far a tank of gas takes me.I just purchased a used 2021 Sienna and am looking at this same lift kit. I have a 2021 with 3" Journey's lift kit with 235/60/18 AT tires, as I do a lot of rough road driving on desert and mountain escapes. Vehicle has 40K miles on it, lifted 10,000 miles ago and suddenly my sway bars started knocking. My local mechanic, who does a lot of offroad modifications, is replacing the sway bars but doesn't think the lift kit is the issue, and I don't think its from the slightly taller tires (235/55/18's before the lift). I have no tire rub anywhere and he also doesn't think the upsized tires are the issue. I guess this is an experiment - otherwise love my ride - and the mileage while still having a rig I can take off the asphalt with no qualms. Do miss my 4-Runner for those rare times I needed all the clearance but absolutely do not miss the crappy MPG and road ride. Given all the folks who eyeball my lifted ride I'm kind of surprised Toyota doesn't have a stock light off-road trim, which should include trimmed front bumper flare.I ran into my first issue with the lift kit. Hi, looking to get a 2 or 3" lift done in Vancouver. Can you share where you ended up doing it and how much it cost? Thanks!View attachment 63490

I bought it lifted, but my buddy I bought it from said after the list price for the kit any decent mechanic can get it done with about 4 hrs of work. On the sway bar thing, yes, the first gen lift kits had the Moog bars that wear out fast if not lubed every oil change and still weren't great. OffRoads has moved on from those Moog bars....will report back when I break 10K miles on the current ones that replaced the previous.Hi, looking to get a 2 or 3" lift done in Vancouver. I think it is just the sway bar end links that are the problem.. but in any case what did they install in place of the Moogs?I bought it lifted, but my buddy I bought it from said after the list price for the kit any decent mechanic can get it done with about 4 hrs of work.
