Greetings Everyone,

We recently purchased a 25th Anniversary Edition and have been very happy with it. Was curious to get some feedback on which Toyota Subscriptions are worth to keep. Currently we are on the trial. Here are the following subscriptions currently active:
1. Remote Connect
2. Destination Assist
3. Safety Connect
4. Dynamic Navigation
5. Wi-Fi Connect.

Thanks for your feedback.

I paid for the Remote Connect. Even though the mobile app sucks and is so slow, compared to the mobile app on my Tesla, I mostly want it for the ability to lock/unlock doors. It would be nice if you could set the climate control like you can in Tesla. I also live in SF bay area so this feature is not really necessary but I'm a glutton and like to step into a warm/cool car.

The Navigation, aka "dynamic Navi", is almost universally unnecessary "unless" you are one of the few who dont have a smart phone or dont have smart phone service. For the same reason, I can not recommend "wifi connect". Of course, if you have a business and want to connect several people to a computer in your car, especially with a poor cell signal, that is way different. I cant see the value of "destination" assist, with people who own a smart phone with service, "except in areas with poor cell coverage" AND it would work with the car's wifi. (Not sure about that).

As far as remote connect...IDK..but Im skeptical. For me, I take my car to the dealer for maintenance (free) twice per year. I dont need to be notified of issues..I cant imagine what issues I could have with a near new Sienna. And, I dont want to be driving it when it has 200,000 miles and on its last legs where "everything" is breaking down.

The safety connect makes sense...if it works. Of course, if you are in an accident and unconscious, you may be happy an ambulaance was called in response to a computer detected crash. I dont know if/how many false positives on this.

With all this said, Im not a good one to respond, because I have not actually used this service..for the reasons stated above.

This presumes Hyundai is giving away this service..I doubt it. Instead, Hyundai builds that service into the price of the car. Toyota does it also. Im not so naieve to think Toyota's "free" maintenance is not built into the price of a $46,000 car. And, "bundling" the maintenance with the car price is not good for everyone. How about the guy who wants to change their own oil, and winds up paying double..once to change it himself, and another that is "built in" to the price of his car. It reminds me of Verizon and the others "giving" you a cell phone...provided you sign a lucrative contract (for them!) where, trust me, you pay for that phone. It just "sounds" free, but isnt really. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

I don't think anyone is implying Hyundai is doing charity. It's just that the trend was for more and more subscription based services, and Hyundai decided to buck that trend. See that as positive or negative based on your own views on subscriptions vs pay in advance.

Oh, and Toyota Canada does not include maintenance here. They also don't send any Siennas to sell here either, so maybe it's a moot point either way.

I did remote connect and safety connect.

Remote connect I use a lot.

I hope I never have to use safety connect. But that button just over the head could be useful in extreme situations. Btw, one of the IIHS crash test video has the overhead panel coming loose from the roof. I hope it doesn't when I need it!
