I own 2 2021’s and they’re both show just the same charge as yours.

 

Thanks, I searched the manual but it’s not mentioned. Only have 1200 miles on it and so far MPG is at about 32.5 checking manually. I’ve seen people saying they get anywhere from 35 all the way to 42 so I was making sure it wasn’t a battery issue.

 

The battery indicator pretty much stays in the 3-5 bar region. It will get full if you have a lot of downhill where the car just regenerates power. Many areas just do not have that kind of hill. The car also tries to not go below 3 bars. However, there are reports of people seeing lower than 3 bars when climbing a long steep mountain pass.

 

I’ve gotten “protect hybrid battery” by going under 3 bars while going through a car wash with AC on in the summer. I was hoping the car wash would regen a few watts for me 😀

I also try to let the ICE finish running before I exit to “top off” the battery.

 

The only time I see my battery "fully charged" is after going down a steep hill for a couple of miles. Normally, the computer is trying to keep the SoC in the 30-70% range. I also had a Prius in 2015-2020 and somehow I don't remember if the battery indicator behaved in a similar way.

Regarding the fuel efficiency: it's late November now, which means there are two factors that affect our mpg's: cold(er) weather and winter-blend gasoline, which is typically less efficient than summer-blend gasoline. Between these two factors we expect to see the fuel efficiency drop by 10-15% against the baseline.

The factors that affect our fuel efficiency all year round are the driving style, the ways we use our vehicles, and the road conditions.

 

The only time I have seen it full is when going downhill off throttle.

 

Also, the hybrid batter meter / gauge does not represent 0 - 100%.

Haven't had a chance to investigate but for my old gen 1 Prius, the visible gauge was for about 60-80%. Need to connect my tech stream to see the real percentages.

I'm guessing the Sienna gauge represents about the same 60-80% range. 8 bars can be anywhere from 80-100%. 1 bar is anywhere from 40-60% and won't go down to zero since ICE will kick in long before 0%.

Very normal on the Sienna. But on our Corolla Hybrid it can get all 8 bars especially the first few minutes of driving. But mostly 7 bars. On the freeway the sienna will stay at 3 bars on long drives. 5 bars on the Corolla (Li-ion equip).
